It operates through Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Daimler Buses, and Daimler Financial Services segments. The Mercedes-Benz Cars segment sells passenger cars and off-road vehicles under the Mercedes-Benz brand name, as well as small cars under the smart brand name. The Daimler Trucks segment distributes trucks under the Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, FUSO, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses, and BharatBenz brand names. The Mercedes-Benz Vans segment primarily sells vans under the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner brand names. The Daimler Buses segment produces and sells built-up buses, city and intercity buses, coaches, and bus chassis under the Mercedes-Benz and Setra brand names. The Daimler Financial Services segment offers financing and leasing packages, insurance, fleet management, investment products, and credit cards, as well as various mobility services for its customers and dealers. The company also sells spare parts and accessories for its vehicles. Daimler AG was founded in 1886 and is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.

Mercedes Benz Reports China Sales Results for the First Quarter of 2015

Mercedes Benz announced that it sold 78,183 Mercedes Benz vehicles in China in the first quarter of this year, reflecting a year on year growth of 16.6%.

Daimler and BAIC Motor Open New Compact Car Plant in China

Daimler AG has opened a new compact car production plant in China with joint-venture partner BAIC Motor. The plant, which covers 1.5 million square metres, has annual capacity to produce 250,000 units per annum (upa), with a total investment of EUR 720 million (USD 784 million), and employs 800 staff. The plant will produce the Mercedes-Benz GLA compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), which has begun production at the plant.

Daimler AG Collaborates with Renault-Nissan to Co-Develop a Pickup Truck

Daimler AG has collaborated with Renault-Nissan to co-develop a pickup truck. The firms will be developing a one-ton pickup for the Mercedes-Benz brand, sharing architecture with the new Nissan NP300, which is sold as the Frontier in the United States. The model will be a double cab, targeting both personal and commercial buyers. There were rumours that the vehicle was likely to be launched in the United States, but the firms stated that the luxury pickup will be aimed at buyers in Europe, Australia, South Africa and Latin America instead. The NP300 will also serve as the foundation for a new Renault pickup for Latin America. The three trucks will be produced in either Cordoba, Argentina, or at the Nissan plant in Barcelona, Spain.
