Daiman Development Berhad, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the property development and investment businesses in Malaysia and internationally. It operates through Property Development, Property Investment, Non-Property Investment, Trading, Leisure and Recreation, Hotel Operation, and Other business segments. The company develops residential, commercial, and industrial properties, as well as manages and operates buildings. It also sells building materials, such as cement, steel bars, BRC materials, red/cement bricks, sand, timber/plywood, concrete and clay roof tiles, ceramic/homogeneous/quarry tiles, quarry products, M.S. roofing/door frames/window frames, sanitary wares/kitchen sinks/tap fittings/water tanks, timber doors/door frames, locksets accessories, and paints; and various pipes comprising V.C. pipes, GI pipes, M.S. cement pipes, and UPVC pipes and poly pipes, as well as processes and trades in ready-mixed concrete. In addition, the company operates golf, sports, and recreation clubs; a bowling center; and a hotel, as well as operates as a general insurance agent. Daiman Development Berhad was incorporated in 1972 and is based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Daiman Development Bhd Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended September 30, 2014

Daiman Development Bhd reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, revenue was MYR 54,465,000 against MYR 28,021,000 a year ago. The higher revenue in the current financial quarter under review was mainly due to higher property sales in Taman Gaya which comprised of double-storey cluster houses and higher sales of double-storey shop offices and double-storey cluster houses in Taman Daiman Jaya. Hospitality business also contributed to the increase in revenue. Profit from operations was MYR 7,662,000 against MYR 41,487,000 a year ago. Profit before tax from continuing operations was MYR 7,167,000 against MYR 43,694,000 a year ago. The decrease in the group's profit before tax compared to the corresponding financial quarter of the preceding year is because, included in that corresponding financial quarter was a one time accounting gain of MYR 37.2 million pursuant to the joint venture agreement with Publiq Development Group Sdn Bhd. The decrease is also due to higher operating costs from hospitality division, but partially offset by higher profit from the property development business from higher properties sales. Net profit for the period from continuing operation was MYR 7,167,000 against MYR 43,694,000 a year ago. Profit attributable to owners of the parent was MYR 3,910,000 or 1.86 sen per basic and diluted share against MYR 32,551,000 or 15.46 sen per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net assets per share were MYR 5.17. Net cash flows from operating activities were MYR 1,006,000 against MYR 6,018,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was MYR 2,944,000 against MYR 23,981,000 a year ago. Addition of investment properties was MYR 479,000 against MYR 886,000 a year ago.
