Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Limited is primarily engaged in the sugar business in India and internationally. The company operates through Own Manufactured Sugar, Power, and Others segments. The Own Manufactured Sugar segment manufactures and markets sugar, as well as produces molasses. The Power segment generates and sells power. This segment has a cogeneration power generation capacity of 79 megawatts in Uttar Pradesh; and 15 megawatts in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, as well as wind farms with a capacity of 16.5 megawatts in Tamil Nadu. The Others segment produces and sells alcohol, including rectified spirits, extra neutral alcohol, denatured spirits, and ethanol or power alcohol. This segment is also involved in the mining of magnesite; production and sale of chip capacitors and chip resistors; and travel activities. The company also produces and sells organic manure to farmers and tea estates. Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Limited was incorporated in 1951 and is based in New Delhi, India.

Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Limited announced unaudited standalone earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported net sales (net of excise duty) of INR 2,572.1 million compared to INR 3,799.5 million for the same period a year ago. Loss from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items was INR 59.2 million compared to INR 249.2 million for the same period a year ago. Loss from ordinary activities before tax was INR 191.2 million compared to INR 352.7 million for the same period a year ago. Net loss was INR 175.6 million compared to INR 351.2 million for the same period a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per share before and after extraordinary items was INR 2.17 compared to INR 4.34 for the same period a year ago. EBITDA was INR 50 million against LBITDA of INR 130 million a year ago. For the nine months, the company reported net sales (net of excise duty) was INR 8,094.8 million compared to INR 8,803.4 million for the same period a year ago. Profit from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items was INR 117.4 million compared to loss from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items was INR 311.6 million for the same period a year ago. Loss from ordinary activities before tax was INR 303.8 million compared to INR 758.9 million for the same period a year ago. Net loss was INR 273.9 million compared to INR 731.9 million for the same period a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per share before and after extraordinary items was INR 3.38 compared to INR 9.04 for the same period a year ago. EBITDA was INR 470 million against INR 40 million a year ago.
