Deutsche Bank AG to Pay $2.5 Million Penalty to Settle Claims with U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission

Deutsche Bank AG (DB) announced that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission ordered it to pay a $2.5 million civil penalty to settle claims the bank failed to properly report swaps transactions between January 2013 and July of this year. The CFTC said Deutsche Bank didn't diligently address and correct the reporting errors until the bank was notified of the CFTC's investigation, and failed to have an adequate swaps supervisory system governing its swaps reporting requirements. According to the CFTC order, Deutsche Bank consented to the order without admitting or denying any of the findings or conclusions. Deutsche Bank also was required to improve its internal controls related to its swaps reporting program.

Deutsche Bank Announces Executive Changes

Deutsche Bank has hired Asoka Woehrmann and Stefan Bender as new heads of private and commercial banking operations in Germany, replacing Peter Schedl and Wilhelm von Haller who will leave their offices on 30 September 2015. Wohrmann will join the firm as head of retail banking and Bender as head of commercial banking within the private and commercial banking management team. Bender will take over his new role over the course of October, while Wohrmann will assume his new role on 1 December 2015. Wohrmann and Bender will be responsible for Deutsche Bank's eight million private, commercial and corporate clients in Germany. In his new role, Bender will retain his role as head of global transaction banking in Germany and will be responsible for building on GTB's strong ties with commercial banking. Wohrmann, who joined Deutsche Bank in 1998, was most recently CIO in Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management.

Deutsche Bank AG Appoints Daniel W. Sooley as Chief Country Officer

Deutsche Bank announced the appointment of Daniel W. Sooley as Chief Country Officer in Canada, effective September 1, 2015. In this role, Mr. Sooley will serve as the Principal Officer of Deutsche Bank AG, Canada Branch. Mr. Sooley joined Deutsche Bank in 2004 as Chief Legal Officer and became Chief Operating Officer in 2013.
