Daktronics, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, designs, manufactures, and sells various electronic display systems and related products worldwide. It operates through five segments: Commercial, Live Events, High School Park and Recreation, Transportation, and International. The company offers video display systems, such as displays to show various levels of video, graphics, and animation, as well as controllers; LED ribbon board displays; mobile and modular display systems; freeform LED displays, which include architectural lighting and display products; indoor and outdoor scoreboards for various sports, digit displays, scoring and timing controllers, statistics software, and other related products; and timing systems for sports events, primarily aquatics and track competitions, as well as swimming touchpads, race start systems, and relay take-off platforms. It also provides message displays; ITS dynamic message signs, including LED displays for road management, mass transit, and aviation applications; and digit and directional displays for use in parking facilities; audio systems for outdoor sports venues. In addition, the company offers static and digital billboards used to display static images which change at regular intervals for the out-of-home (OOH) advertising industry; Visiconn system, a software application for controlling content and playback loops for digital billboard applications; and street furniture comprising advertising light boxes for static, scrolling, and digital OOH campaigns. Further, it provides digit and price displays, such as outdoor time and temperature displays, as well as Fuelight digit displays for the petroleum industry; and maintenance and professional services related to its products. The company sells its products through direct sales and resellers. Daktronics, Inc. was founded in 1968 and is based in Brookings, South Dakota.

Daktronics and Loyola University Partner for New LED Displays

Daktronics Inc. has partnered with Loyola University Maryland, to upgrade Reitz Arena with new LED displays. Four LED video displays, each approximately 9.5 feet high and 15.5 feet wide, were installed in each corner of the court in Reitz Arena. The displays feature 6 millimeter line spacing for superior picture quality. Wide angle visibility ensures the displays will look great from any seat in the facility. Reitz Arena holds 2,100 spectators and is home to Loyola's basketball and volleyball teams. The displays feature variable content zoning which allows the operator to show a large picture that uses the entire display or smaller zones in any arrangement for live video, instant replays, real-time statistics, scores, advertisements and animations.

Daktronics Inc. Announces Executive Changes

Daktronics Inc. announced the retirement of director James A. Vellenga from its board of directors effective September 2, 2015. The board has selected Kevin P. McDermott and John P. Friel as independent directors. Mr. McDermott fills the vacancy created by the May 1, 2015 retirement of Bruce W. Tobin, and his appointment is effective immediately. Mr. Friel is nominated to fill Mr. Vellenga's vacancy, and he will stand for election at the September 2, 2015 annual meeting of shareholders. Mr. Vellenga had served on the Daktronics board of directors since 1997. He is a member of the nominating and corporate governance and audit committees. John P. Friel served for 30 years in various capacities at MEDRAD Inc. He joined MEDRAD in the accounting area and earned a promotion to treasurer and vice president in corporate planning in 1986 and the business development area in 1987. He then served as executive vice president of sales and marketing from 1989-1995, senior vice president and general manager from 1995-1998, and as president and CEO from 1998-2010. Mr. Friel is currently the managing director at Preservation Technologies LP, the director of the medical device industry segment at Blue Water Growth LLC, and a business consultant and board member of various companies in his position at Five Radicals LLC. Kevin P. McDermott joins the board of directors with 33 years in various capacities with the accounting firm of KPMG LLP, including audit engagement partner, SEC reviewing partner, professional practice partner, and in the firm's Office of General Counsel. Although Mr. McDermott retired from KPMG LLP, he provides litigation support consulting services on a part time basis.

Daktronics, Inc. Partners with Coastal Carolina University to Design, Manufacture and Install New LED Video Display and Scoreboard

Daktronics Inc. has partnered with Coastal Carolina University to design, manufacture and install a new LED video display and scoreboard at Spring-Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina. Chanticleer fans have been enjoying the new equipment since early 2015 when the installation was completed. The new video display measures 13 feet high by 24 feet wide and features a 15HD pixel layout. It features variable content zoning to highlight one large image for live video and instant replays, or to section the display into multiple windows to show a variety of graphics, animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, sponsor messages and other game information. The standard fixed-digit scoreboard measures more than 9 feet high by 36 feet wide and shows standard baseball statistical information such as runs, hits, errors, inning-by-inning scoring and more.
