Cypress Semiconductor Corporation provides mixed-signal programmable solutions, semiconductor memories, and integrated semiconductor solutions worldwide. The company’s Memory Products division designs and manufactures static random access memory (SRAM) products and nonvolatile RAMs used to store and retrieve data in networking, wireless infrastructure and handsets, computation, consumer, automotive, industrial, and other electronic systems; and general-purpose programmable clocks. Its Data Communications division focuses on universal serial bus (USB) controllers, Bluetooth low energy and wirelessUSB solutions, and module based solutions for trackpads and other user interface applications used in PC and peripheral, industrial automation imaging, security camera, and consumer devices, such as mobile handsets and set-top boxes. The company’s Programmable Solutions division designs and develops programmable product offerings, including Programmable System-on-Chip (PSoC) devices used in various industrial applications, mass storage, household appliances, laptop computers, and toys; CapSense devices are used in applications that employ buttons or sliders, such as handsets and various other consumer, industrial, and automotive applications; TrueTouch touch-sensing/touch screen products used in mobile phones, tablets, e-readers, wearables, GPS, automobiles, digital cameras, and other mobile systems; and automotive products. Its Emerging Technology division provides wafer level chip scale packaging solutions and foundry services, as well as other development stage activities. The company sells its semiconductor products through distributors, manufacturing representative firms, and its sales force to original equipment manufacturers and manufacturers. It has a strategic foundry partnership with HuaHong Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation and United Microelectronics Corporation. The company was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in San Jose, California.

Cypress Introduces High-Performance Synchronous SRAM Family with On-Chip Error-Correcting Code for Superior Reliability

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced the availability of the industry's highest-density synchronous SRAMs with on-chip Error-Correcting Code. The integrated ECC feature enables the new 36Mb synchronous SRAMs to provide the higher levels of data reliability, simplifying designs for a wide variety of military, communication and data processing applications. Cypress plans to expand the family of high-performance synchronous SRAMs with ECC with additional densities this year. Soft errors caused by background radiation can corrupt memory content, resulting in a loss of critical data. A hardware ECC block in Cypress's new synchronous SRAMs performs all error correction functions inline, without user intervention, delivering best-in-class Soft Error Rate (SER) performance. The synchronous SRAMs with ECC are pin-compatible with current synchronous SRAMs, enabling customers to enhance SER and system reliability while retaining board layout. Additionally, the new SRAMs help reduce power consumption by as much as 36% over competing solutions. The new 36Mb synchronous SRAMs are currently available in industrial temperature grade in RoHS-compliant 100-pin TQFP and 165-ball BGA packages.

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced that its board of directors has approved a quarterly cash dividend of $0.11 per share payable to holders of record of the company's common stock at the close of business on June 25, 2015. This dividend will be paid on July 16, 2015.

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. Introduces New Solution for USB Type-C to DisplayPort Adapters

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. has introduced the EZ-PD CCG1-based Type-C to DisplayPort Cable solution, a complete silicon and software solution for USB Type-C to DisplayPort adapters. The EZ-PD CCG1-based Type-C to DisplayPort Cable solution enables connectivity between a USB Type-C receptacle and a DisplayPort (DP) or Mini DisplayPort (mDP) receptacle, allowing emerging Type-C notebooks and monitors to be interoperable with older products. The Cypress Type-C to DP solution includes USB Billboard Device Class, which allows the adapter to communicate status to a host that does not support DP. This solution uses Cypress's EZ-PD CCG1 (CYPD1120) Type-C Port Controller to support DP as one of its Alternate Modes and the CY7C65210 Full-Speed USB 2.0 controller to support the USB Billboard Device Class. The USB Type-C standard is gaining rapid support with top-tier PC makers by enabling slim industrial designs, easy-to-use connectors and cables, the ability to transmit multiple protocols, and 100W power delivery (PD), a significant improvement over the previous 7.5W standard. The Type-C standard's 2.4-mm-high connector plug is significantly smaller than current 4.5-mm USB Type-A standard connectors. It also allows for transport of USB signals and PCIe or DP signals on the same connector.
