It offers various personal banking products, including chequing accounts, savings accounts, youth accounts, student accounts, mortgages, secured and unsecured lines of credit, car loans, consolidation loans, recreation vehicle loans, RRSP loans, and credit cards. The company also provides business current and savings accounts, cash management accounts, commercial lending, commercial real estate loans, energy lending, equipment financing and leasing, cash management services, guaranteed investment certificates, and business credit cards. In addition, it offers registered retirement savings plans and income funds, tax-free savings accounts, and registered education savings plans; and online, mobile, and ATM banking services. Further, the company offers trustee and custodial solutions for financial advisors, corporations, and individuals; stock transfer, corporate trust, escrow and employee plan administration services; and life and disability, auto, home, tenant, condominium, and travel insurance products. Additionally, it provides wealth management for individuals, corporations, and institutions; manages personal investment portfolios for high-net-worth individuals; and mutual funds comprising conservative money market funds and specialized equity funds. The company operates through a network of 41 client-focused branches. Canadian Western Bank was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in Edmonton, Canada.

Canadian Western Bank announced unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended January 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net interest income was $132,921,000 compared to $121,676,000 for the same period a year ago. Net Income before income taxes from continuing operations was $72,077,000 compared to $70,100,000 for the same period a year ago. Net income from continuing operations was $54,183,000 compared to $53,187,000 for the same period a year ago. Common shareholders' net income from continuing operations was $52,405,000 or $0.65 per diluted share compared to $49,066,000 or $0.61 per diluted share for the same period a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were $0.67 compared to $0.65 for the same period a year ago. Cash flows from operating activities were $53,476,000 compared to $54,796,000 for the same period a year ago. Amount spent on property, equipment and intangible assets was $7,321,000 compared to $7,700,000 for the same period a year ago. Total revenues (taxable equivalent basis) of $159.9 million were up 4%, primarily reflecting the positive impact of strong 12% loan growth, partially offset by lower net interest margin and non-interest income, the latter attributed to reduced gains on the sale of securities and, within Discontinued Operations, elevated insurance claims expense. Return on assets was 1.03% compared to 1.11% for the same period a year ago. Return on common shareholders' equity was 13.5% compared to 14.8% for the same period a year ago.

Canadian Western Bank announced that its Board of Directors has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.21 per common share, payable on March 26, 2015, to shareholders of record at the close of business on March 16, 2015. This quarterly dividend is consistent with the previous quarter and 11% higher than the quarterly dividend declared one year ago. The Board of Directors also declared a cash dividend of $0.275 per Series 5 Preferred Share payable on April 30, 2015 to shareholders of record on April 23, 2015.
