Cablevision Systems Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, owns and operates cable systems in the United States. The company operates through three segments: Cable, Lightpath, and Other. The Cable segment provides video services, including programming, local broadcast network affiliates and independent television stations, other news, information, sports and entertainment channels, regional sports networks, video on demand, and entertainment and advertising services under the Optimum brand name; high-speed data services to residential and small business customers through a cable modem device under the Optimum Online name; and Voice over Internet Protocol services under the Optimum Voice name. The Lightpath segment offers Ethernet-based data, Internet, voice, and video transport and managed services to health care, financial, education, legal, and professional services industries, as well as the public sector and telecommunication providers. The Other segment is involved in the operations of Newsday, a daily newspaper; amNew York, a free daily newspaper; Star Community Publishing, a weekly shopper publication; and online Websites. This segment also provides the News 12 Networks, which provides regional news programming services; cable television advertising; and MSG Interactive, MSG Varsity Interactive, and Tag Games. As of December 31, 2014, it served approximately 2.7 million video clients. The company was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Bethpage, New York.

Steven Witkoff Plans To Buy New York Daily

Steven Witkoff is planning to buy New York Daily News Company. Gerry Cardinale's RedBird Capital Partners LLC is advising Steven Witkoff on his offer for New York Daily. Jimmy Finkelstein and John Catsimatidis submitted their final bids this week for New York Daily, according to people familiar with the matter. Mort Zuckerman, owner of New York Daily is trying to get the three bidders to raise their offers before deciding on whether he will sell, one of the people added. Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE:CVC) has dropped out of the bidding.

ESPN, Cablevision Strike Data Partnership

ESPN entered into a multiyear audience data and analytics agreement with Cablevision Systems Corp. The companies will use their first-party, census-level audience tuning data to analyze consumers' viewing habits and preferences. The agreement also applies more broadly to Walt Disney Co., which will have the ability to utilize the data to inform ad sales for other networks in the Disney Media Networks Group.
