Cablevision Systems Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, owns and operates cable systems in the United States. The company operates through three segments: Cable, Lightpath, and Other. The Cable segment provides video services, including programming, local broadcast network affiliates and independent television stations, other news, information, sports and entertainment channels, regional sports networks, video on demand, and entertainment and advertising services under the Optimum brand name; high-speed data services to residential and small business customers through a cable modem device under the Optimum Online name; and Voice over Internet Protocol services under the Optimum Voice name. The Lightpath segment offers Ethernet-based data, Internet, voice, and video transport and managed services to health care, financial, education, legal, and professional services industries, as well as the public sector and telecommunication providers. The Other segment is involved in the operations of Newsday, a daily newspaper; amNew York, a free daily newspaper; Star Community Publishing, a weekly shopper publication; and online Websites. This segment also provides the News 12 Networks, which provides regional news programming services; cable television advertising; and MSG Interactive, MSG Varsity Interactive, and Tag Games. As of December 31, 2014, it served approximately 2.7 million video clients. The company was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Bethpage, New York.

The new, multi-platform deal allows Cablevision subscribers to enjoy continued access to Discovery's unparalleled family of 13 US networks and incorporates TV Everywhere rights through subscriber authentication. The agreement, encompassing Discovery's full portfolio of networks including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, Science, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, American Heroes Channel, Velocity, Destination America, Discovery Family Channel, Discovery Life Channel, Discovery en Espanol and Discovery Familia, ensures Cablevision subscribers will have access to their favorite Discovery networks and shows for many years to come.

Cablevision Systems Corporation Announces Management Changes

Cablevision Systems Corporation announced that the company's president Brian G. Sweeney will also become chief financial officer, effective March 1, 2015. Mr. Sweeney will continue to report to James L. Dolan, Cablevision chief executive officer. Mr. Sweeney succeeds Gregg Seibert who will continue to serve as vice chairman of Cablevision, working on the company's long-term strategic and financial initiatives. As president and CFO, Mr. Sweeney will continue to work closely with Mr. Dolan on the overall management of the company. He will oversee the company's financial and accounting matters as well as its investor relations, treasury, business development activities, and other corporate finance functions. In this role, he also assumes responsibility for Cablevision's Lightpath business.
