Cablevision Systems Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, owns and operates cable television systems in the United States. The company operates through three segments: Cable, Lightpath, and Other. The Cable segment provides video services, including programming, local broadcast network affiliates and independent television stations, other news, information, sports and entertainment channels, regional sports networks, video on demand, and entertainment and advertising services under the Optimum brand name; high-speed data services to residential and small business customers through a cable modem device under the Optimum Online name; and Voice over Internet Protocol services under the Optimum Voice name. The Lightpath segment offers Ethernet-based data, Internet, voice, and video transport and managed services to health care, financial, education, legal, and professional services industries, as well as the public sector and telecommunication providers. The Other segment is involved ion the operations of Newsday, a daily newspaper; amNewYork, a free daily newspaper; various weekly shopper publications; and online Websites, such as newsday.com and exploreLI.com. This segment also provides the News 12 Networks, which provides regional news programming services; cable television advertising; MSG Varsity, a program service showcasing high school sports and activities, and other local programming. As of December 31, 2013, it served approximately 2.8 million video clients. The company was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Bethpage, New York.

Cablevision Systems Corporation Introduces Freewheel

Cablevision Systems Corporation announced the upcoming launch of Freewheel, a new low-cost all-WiFi phone service providing unlimited data, talk and text. Harnessing the rapid growth and unparalleled capabilities of WiFi, Freewheel is the first all-WiFi service to be introduced by a cable provider. It will be offered with the Motorola Moto G smartphone and works exclusively over WiFi. The service will work anywhere in the world where WiFi is accessible, and will operate only when the device is connected to a WiFi signal. Freewheel customers will have automatic access to the Optimum WiFi network of 1.1 million hotspots. Freewheel will be available for purchase nationwide starting next month at Freewheel.com. The service will cost $29.95 per month or $9.95 per month for Cablevision's Optimum Online customers, which is up to 80% less expensive than other cellular offerings. The service comes with no annual contract. Freewheel will be available exclusively on the Motorola Moto G. The device will be offered for purchase at a heavily discounted price of $99.95. Freewheel is a great option for people who: Spend their day in WiFi-rich environments, including colleges, offices and homes; Overspend on data or constantly worry about staying within their expensive and restrictive cellular data limits; Live in densely populated areas or other locales that suffer from poor cellular reception; Are budget conscious or on a fixed income; Are looking for the best first device for their children; Do not want to sign multi-year contracts.

Cablevision Systems Corporation Appoints Cindi Buckwalter Senior Vice President, Investor Relations

Cablevision Systems Corporation announced the appointment of Cindi Buckwalter to the position of senior vice president, investor relations, effective immediately. She will report to Cablevision vice chairman and chief financial officer, Gregg Seibert. Cindi Buckwalter, SVP, Investor Relations, Cablevision Systems Corporation. Leading the Investor Relations function, Ms. Buckwalter will be the primary interface between Cablevision and the investment community. She will lead the engagement strategy with Cablevisionâ s shareholders and analysts, as well as direct all aspects of investor relations policies, communications and initiatives. Ms. Buckwalter most recently served as vice president of investor relations for Scientific Games.
