Deutsche Telekom Reportedly In Talks With Comcast

Deutsche Telekom AG (DB:DTE) is reportedly in talks with Comcast Corporation (NasdaqGS:CMCS.A) about a potential sale of T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE:TMUS). Deutsche Telekom is in talks with several parties but Comcast is viewed as a more attractive buyer by the German telecoms provider's management. Comcast would be a better candidate as it is financially stronger and would be able to make an offer to buy all shares in T-Mobile US, Manager Magazine reported. Comcast isn’t interested in buying T-Mobile and hasn’t discussed a deal with Deutsche Telekom, said a person familiar with the matter. Comcast doesn’t want to risk pushing another deal in front of regulators so soon and hasn’t engaged in deal talks, said the person, who asked not to be named because the internal discussions are private. Manager Magazin in Germany reported that Comcast is interested in a deal with T-Mobile, citing people it didn’t identify.

The Litigation Trustee for the Houston Regional Sports Network Litigation Trust Files a Lawsuit Against Comcast Corp. and Several Related Entities and Individuals

The litigation trustee for the Houston Regional Sports Network Litigation Trust filed a lawsuit in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Houston on June 11 against Comcast Corp. and several related entities and individuals. Houston Regional Sports Network LP, a partnership between the Houston Rockets, the Houston Astros and the NBC Sports Group of Comcast/NBC Universal, launched CSN Houston in October 2012. But it faced difficulties establishing distribution agreements with many major satellite and cable carriers, and it was forced into bankruptcy a year later. After a year of bankruptcy proceedings, a reorganization plan was approved to transfer CSN Houston's ownership to AT&T and DirecTV Sports Networks. CSN Houston went off the air in October 2014, and Root Sports Southwest replaced it in November 2014. The new lawsuit claims, "Comcast did everything in its power to financially impair the Debtor [Houston Regional Sports Network LP] so that Comcast would have the leverage to acquire the Debtor's great assets for itself at a significant discount." The lawsuit accuses Comcast of fraud, business disparagement, interference with prospective business relations, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and conspiracy among the 13 counts included in the lawsuit. The plaintiff is seeking a trial by jury. Although no dollar figure is specified, the lawsuit seeks actual damages, nominal damages, exemplary damages, equitable relief and related court costs.
