Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, together with its subsidiaries, manufactures and markets replacement tires worldwide. The company operates in two segments, Americas Tire Operations and International Tire Operations. The Americas Tire Operations segment offers passenger car and light truck tires, as well as distributes tires for racing, medium trucks, and motorcycles to independent tire dealers, wholesale distributors, regional and national retail tire chains, and other automotive product retail chains. This segment sells its products through three own retail stores. The International Tire Operations segment manufactures and markets passenger car, light truck, motorcycle, and racing tires, as well as tire retread material. Cooper Tire & Rubber Company was founded in 1913 and is based in Findlay, Ohio.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2015

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, net sales were $663,206,000 against $796,458,000 a year ago. Operating profit was $70,353,000 against $80,911,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $64,639,000 against $74,295,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $40,761,000 against $45,434,000 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share attributable to the company common stockholders was $0.69 against $0.71 a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was $8,002,000 against $27,552,000 a year ago. Additions to property, plant and equipment and capitalized software were $47,698,000 against $39,772,000 a year ago. First quarter operating profit compared with 2014 was impacted by the following favorable factors: $46 million from lower raw material cost and $4 million from higher unit volume. These items were partially offset by $16 million of unfavorable manufacturing cost, partially due to the previously discussed reconfiguration of U.S. manufacturing plants to increase production of higher-value, higher-margin products. The company expects its full year tax rate to be in a range of 30% to 35%. Capital expenditures for 2015 are expected to be between $205 million and $215 million. The company expects depreciation and amortization to be approximately $120 million in 2015. The company expects operating margin to be consistent with goal of 8% to 10%.
