Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, together with its subsidiaries, manufactures and markets replacement tires worldwide. It operates in two segments, North American Tire Operations and International Tire Operations. The North American Tire Operations segment offers passenger car and light truck tires, as well as distributes tires for racing, medium trucks, and motorcycles to independent tire dealers, wholesale distributors, regional and national retail tire chains, and other automotive product retail chains. This segment sells its products through three own retail stores. The International Tire Operations segment manufactures and markets passenger car, light truck, motorcycle, and racing tires and tire retread material. The company was founded in 1913 and is based in Findlay, Ohio.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter and Year Ended December 31, 2014; Provides Financial Guidance for the Year 2015

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. reported consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported net sales of $819.584 million against $861.007 million a year ago. The decrease primarily was due to lower volume of $61 million related to the absence of CCT for part of the quarter, and unfavorable price and mix of $33 million. Operating profit was $53.583 million against $46.976 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $122.303 million against $40.129 million a year ago. Net income was $85.699 million against $25.827 million a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $82.263 million or $1.39 per diluted per share against $19.615 million or $0.31 per basic and diluted per share a year ago. Capital expenditures in the fourth quarter were $33 million. For the year, the company reported net sales of $3,424.809 million against $3,439.233 million a year ago. Operating profit was $300.458 million against $240.714 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $348.519 million against $212.971 million a year ago. Net income was $236.822 million against $133.565 million a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $213.578 million or $3.42 per diluted per share against $111.013 million or $1.73 per diluted per share a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $319.084 million against $272.375 million a year ago. Additions to property, plant and equipment and capitalized software was $145.041 million against $180.448 million a year ago. For the full year 2015, the company expects effective tax rate will be in a range of 30% to 35% and capital expenditures will be in a range of $205 million to $215 million.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Seeks Acquisitions

Roy Armes, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (NYSE:CTB) said in fourth quarter earnings call, "This new supply could take a variety of forms, such as an agreement with another supplier, making an acquisition, a joint venture, adding capacity to our CKT plant, buying a facility and running it ourselves, or just building a new plant. We have the financial capacity to take any of those paths or a combination of them."
