Cosan S.A. Indústria e Comércio, through its subsidiaries, engages in the production and sale of sugar and ethanol primarily in Brazil, rest of South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The company’s Raízen Energia segment produces and markets various products derived from sugar cane, including raw sugar, and anhydrous and hydrated ethanol. This segment is also involved in activities related to energy cogeneration from sugarcane bagasse; and holds interests in companies involved in research and development on new technology. Its Raízen Combustíveis segment distributes and markets fuels, primarily through a network of service stations under the Shell brand in Brazil. The company’s COMGÁS segment distributes piped natural gas to customers in the industrial, residential, commercial, automotive, thermogeneration, and cogeneration sectors. Its Radar segment is involved in buying, managing, selling, and leasing agricultural land. The company’s Lubricants segment produces and distributes lubricants under the Mobil brand. The company is headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil. Cosan S.A. Indústria e Comércio is a subsidiary of Cosan Limited.

Cosan S. A. Indústria e Comércio announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net revenue of BRL 2,122.027 million against BRL 2,055.528 million a year ago. Net income was BRL 49.447 million against BRL 104.147 million a year ago. EBITDA of BRL 577.4 million.

Cosan S.A. Announces Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter of 2015

Cosan S.A. announced consolidated earnings results for the second quarter of 2015. For the quarter, the company’s EBITDA was BRL 514 million, 20% above of the same period for the same quarter of last year. The adjusted EBITDA on this quarter was BRL 508 million, 60% above the same period of last year, mainly driven by a federal sales mix of gasoline and ethanol. CapEx this quarter was BRL 381 million, 33% below the second quarter of last year. This quarter, the net revenue increased 7%, reaching BRL 10.1 billion. On the pro forma EBITDA on the quarter was BRL 874 million, 6% above the second quarter last year. CapEx on this quarter was close to BRL 400 million, a 25% reduction when compared to the second quarter of 2014, mainly driven by the reduction in Raízen Energia and a small reduction in Comgás. This overall CapEx reduction, combined with a better overall operational business performance, especially on the fuels distribution and in Comgás, resulted in a BRL 350 million cash generation in this quarter. The pro forma net debt was BRL 10.7 billion. The normalized EBITDA increasing from BRL 1.3 billion reported on last year, 2014, to BRL 1.4 billion this year. The company reported net income of BRL 49.9 million compared to BRL 104.1 million for the same period last year. Earnings from its ethanol subsidiary Raízen Energia were affected by delays and lower sales, despite gains from cost cuts.
