Companhia Paranaense de Energia - COPEL engages in the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity to industrial, residential, commercial, rural, and other customers primarily in the State of Parana, Brazil. As of December 31, 2014, the company operated 18 hydroelectric plants, 1 wind plant, and 1 thermoelectric plant with a total installed capacity of 4,754.4 megawatts; and owned and operated 2,174 kilometers of transmission lines and 189,925.4 kilometers of distribution lines. It holds concessions to distribute electricity in 394 municipalities in the State of Parana and in the municipality of Porto Uniao in the State of Santa Catarina. The company also provides telecommunication services to 4,227 corporate clients, including supermarkets, universities, banks, Internet service providers, and television networks, as well as to 17,534 retail clients; and broadband Internet access to public elementary and middle schools. In addition, it supplies piped gas to 26,052 customers, including thermoelectric plants, cogeneration plants, gas stations, other businesses, and residences through a gas distribution network covering 726 kilometers in the State of Paraná. Companhia Paranaense de Energia – COPEL was founded in 1954 and is headquartered in Curitiba, Brazil.

SANEPAR and COPEL Not Up For Sale

Companhia de Saneamento do Paraná - SANEPAR (BOVESPA:SAPR4) and Companhia Paranaense de Energia (BOVESPA:CPLE6) are not up for sale, governor Beto Richa said in a local government release. According to Machado, the state is facing money problems and the sale would raise some $316 million. local paper Parana¡ Online reported. "I did not authorize this and I haven't discussed this with anyone. I respect the secretary's opinion but don't agree with him. There are other alternatives to resolving the matter," said Beto Richa.

Copel Declares Distribution on Common Share, Preferred "A" Share Preferred "B" Share for the Year 2014, Payable on June 22, 2015

Copel announced that the 60th Annual Shareholders' Meeting (ASM) held on April 23, 2015 approved the distribution of BRL 622.5 million for fiscal year 2014 - equivalent to a 50% payout - BRL 380.8 million of which (BRL 350.8 million in dividends and BRL 30.0 million in interest on capital) was declared and paid on November 21, 2014, and BRL 241.753 million will be paid on June 22, 2015. The company announced dividend of BRL 0.84351 per common share, BRL 1.06310 per Preferred "A" share and BRL 0.92803 per Preferred "B" share.

Companhia Paranaense De Energia Announces Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Fiscal 2015

Companhia Paranaense de Energia announced consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 2015. The company reported income totaled BRL 470 million in the first quarter, 19% lower than net income in the same period of the previous year. Operating revenue went up 39% in the first quarter of 2015, exceeding BRL 4.2 billion. The main drivers for growth in revenue were: increase of 44% in the revenue of electricity sales to final consumers, mainly due to adjustment applied to tariffs by Copel Distribuição; 24.86% in June 2014. Operating income was BRL 717 million against BRL 816 million a year ago. Earnings per share were BRL 1.72 against BRL 2.13 a year ago. Return on shareholders' equity (annualized) was 14.5% against 19.3% a year ago. Capex was BRL 428 million against BRL 456 million a year ago. Net operating revenues were BRL 4,237 million against BRL 3,051 million a year ago. Net debt as at March 2015 was BRL 5,081,599 against BRL 2,816,772 a year ago. Book value per share was BRL 51.64 against BRL 49.34 a year ago. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization amounted to BRL 834.9 million, 2.8% lower than in the same period last year (BRL 858.6 million). Profit before financial results and taxes were BRL 675,653,000 against BRL 704,589,000 a year ago. Net cash generated by operating activities BRL 28,202,000 against net cash used in operating activities if BRL 36,284,000 a year ago. Additions to property, plant, and equipment were BRL 286,072,000 against BRL 182,806,000 a year ago. Additions to intangible were BRL 253,523,000 against BRL 270,543,000 a year ago. By year-end 2015, the company expects to have an increase of BRL 135 million in the revenue of transmission assets with the startup of other important assets that are now in the final conclusion phase -- construction phase.
