The company operates through three segments: Commercial Systems, Government Systems, and Information Management Services. The Commercial Systems segment provides aviation electronics systems, products, and services comprising integrated avionics systems; integrated cabin electronics systems; communications systems and products; navigation systems and products; situational awareness and surveillance systems and products; electro-mechanical systems; simulation and training systems; and maintenance, repairs, parts, after-sales support services, and aftermarket used equipment. This segment serves original equipment manufacturers of commercial air transport, business and regional aircraft, commercial airlines, and business aircraft operators. The Government Systems segment provides defense-related systems, products, and services comprising communications systems and products; avionics sub-systems; precision targeting and range and training systems; cockpit display products; and maintenance, repair, parts, after-sales support services, and aftermarket used equipment. This segment serves U.S. Department of Defense, other ministries of defense, other government agencies, and defense contractors. The Information Management Services segment offers voice and data communication services; flight support services; airport communications and information systems; train dispatching and information systems; and mission critical security systems. This segment serves commercial airlines, business aircraft operators, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, airport and critical infrastructure operators, and passenger and freight railroads. The company markets its products directly to customers, as well as through sales force, dealers, and sales representatives. Rockwell Collins, Inc. was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Rockwell Collins has been selected to provide the FalconCabin HD+ cabin management and entertainment system for Dassault's new Falcon Jet 5X and Falcon Jet 8X business aircraft. With this selection, Rockwell Collins builds upon its role as Dassault's sole cabin system supplier for its entire new aircraft fleet. Rockwell Collins' Venue-based cabin system for Falcon Jet 5X and Falcon Jet 8X will provide customization capabilities for flexibility to accommodate intuitive, easy-to-control cabin interfaces and consumer technologies that passengers desire. It will also include content programming options and the latest version of Rockwell Collins' interactive Airshow® 3D Moving Map to keep passengers informed and engaged throughout their journey.

Rockwell Collins Announces New Leadership Appointments in Corporate Development and Commercial Systems

Rockwell Collins announced that Steve Nieuwsma has been named vice president, Corporate Strategy for the company effective immediately. In this newly created role, Nieuwsma is responsible for developing strategies to accelerate organic and inorganic growth at Rockwell Collins. He reports to Jeff MacLauchlan, senior vice president, Corporate Development. Nieuwsma has held key leadership roles throughout his career and most recently served as vice president, Commercial Systems Engineering for Rockwell Collins. Replacing Nieuwsma is Leigh Parker, who previously served as senior director, Commercial Systems Engineering Avionics Programs for Rockwell Collins. Parker has more than 17 years' engineering management experience, and has held key leadership roles in several successful programs at Rockwell Collins, including the development of air transport flight displays, situational awareness applications and Pro Line Fusion avionics. She reports to Kent Statler, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Commercial Systems.

NASA Selects Rockwell Collins Inc. to Develop Cockpit Display to Show Sonic Boom over Land

Rockwell Collins has been awarded a two-year contract by NASA to develop a conceptual cockpit display that will provide a visual representation of sonic boom over the Earth's surface to mitigate impact on populated areas. NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center will lead the research, working with Rockwell Collins' Advanced Technology Center. Rockwell Collins' findings will be applied in NASA's High Speed Project, which is aimed at providing the research and leadership to enable the development of a new generation of supersonic civil transport aircraft. Rockwell Collins will leverage its proven avionics display technologies and advanced human factors research team to develop the sonic boom cockpit display, incorporating a number of variables such as the aircraft's movement relative to the ground and the influence of weather on shock waves. Both ground-based and aircraft-measured weather information will be explored and integrated into the sonic boom display's software to compute best flight path.
