Cobham plc offers a range of technologies and services to commercial, defense, and security markets worldwide. The company operates through four segments: Communications and Connectivity, Mission Systems, Advanced Electronic Solutions, and Aviation Services. The Communications and Connectivity segment provides aircraft and in-building communications equipment, law enforcement and national security monitoring solutions, and satellite communication equipment for land, sea, and air applications; and specialist composite products for military and commercial applications, and test and measure instrumentation for radio frequency, cellular communications, and wireless networking. The Mission Systems segment offers safety and survival systems for extreme environments; aerial refueling systems and wing-tip to wing-tip mission systems for jets; transport aircraft and rotorcraft; and remote controlled robots and fully equipped bomb disposal vehicles for military and homeland security. The Advanced Electronic Solutions segment provides critical solutions for communication on land, at sea, and in the air and in space, by moving data through off-the-shelf; and customized products, including radio frequency, microwave and microelectronics, antenna subsystems, and motion control solutions. This segment also supplies its products and solutions to defense, wireless/mobile and fixed broadband, X-ray imaging, medical, industrial, and point of sale markets. The Aviation Services segment delivers outsourced aviation services for military and civil customers through military training, special mission flight operations, outsourced commercial aviation, and aircraft engineering. This segment operates a fleet of 18 Boeing 717 aircraft for QantasLink, the regional airline of Qantas. Cobham plc was founded in 1934 and is based in Wimborne, the United Kingdom.

Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions reported unaudited earnings results for the half year of 2015. For the period, the company reported revenue of £276 million compared to £172 million a year ago. Trading profit was £40 million compared to £26 million a year ago. Total revenue increased by £104 million due to the contribution in the period from the former Aeroflex microelectronics business, with a good performance in defence/security and commercial markets from shipments of its application specific integrated circuits.

Cobham plc reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the half year ended June 30, 2015. For the half year, the company reported revenue of £1,048.2 million compared to £834.1 million a year ago. Operating profit was £29.7 million compared to £68.7 million a year ago. Profit before taxation was £4.3 million compared to £54.2 million a year ago. Loss after taxation for the period was £2.2 million compared to profit after taxation for the period of £46.1 million a year ago. Loss attributable to the owners of the parent company was £2.3 million or 0.20 pence compared to profit attributable to the owners of the company of £46.0 million a year ago. Diluted loss per share was 0.20 pence compared to diluted earnings per share of 4.22 pence a year ago. Underlying EPS was 9.34 pence compared to 8.67 pence a year ago. Net cash from operating activities was £121.5 million compared to £60.2 million a year ago. Purchase of property plant and equipment was £54.8 million compared to £22.9 million a year ago. Purchase of intangible assets was £9.8 million compared to £3.1 million a year ago. Net debt as at June 30, 2015 was £1,237 million compared to £1,223 million a year ago. For 2015, the company continues to see good revenue growth from its commercial aerospace products, there are currently short term headwinds in certain of its commercial marine and land markets. The company continues to expect there will be a greater weighting of earnings to the second half, with full year organic revenue growth in line with previous guidance. The group's underlying tax rate rose to 21.5%, as expected, and the company expects this underlying rate to remain unchanged for the full year. The Board of the company has approved an interim dividend of 3.05 pence (2014: 2.904 pence), an increase of 5%, reflecting the Group's progressive dividend policy with the intention to rebuild cover over time. The shares will be traded ex-dividend on 8 October 2015 and the interim dividend will be paid on 6 November 2015 to shareholders on the register at 9 October 2015.
