CenterPoint Energy, Inc. operates as a public utility holding company in the United States. The company’s Electric Transmission & Distribution segment offers electric transmission and distribution services to retail electric providers, municipalities, electric cooperatives, and other distribution companies. As of December 31, 2014, this segment owned 28,282 pole miles of overhead distribution lines and 3,719 circuit miles of overhead transmission lines; 22,435 circuit miles of underground distribution lines and 26 circuit miles of underground transmission lines; and 236 substations with a capacity of 57,477 megavolt amperes. Its Natural Gas Distribution segment sells regulated intrastate natural gas; provides natural gas transportation services for residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation customers; and offers unregulated services comprising residential appliance repair and maintenance services, as well as sells heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment. This segment owned approximately 73,000 linear miles of natural gas distribution mains. The company’s Energy Services segment provides physical natural gas supplies primarily to commercial and industrial customers, and electric and gas utilities; natural gas management services; and physical delivery services, as well as procures and optimizes transportation and storage assets. It owns and operates approximately 200 miles of intrastate pipelines; and leases transportation capacity on various interstate and intrastate pipelines, and storage. Its Midstream Investments segment provides gathering, processing, compression, treating, dehydration, and natural gas liquids fractionation for natural gas producers. This segment had approximately 11,900 miles of gathering pipelines, 7,900 miles of interstate pipelines, and approximately 2,300 miles of intrastate pipelines. The company was founded in 1882 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

CenterPoint Energy, Inc. Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015; Reaffirms Consolidated Earnings Guidance for the Full Year of 2015

CenterPoint Energy, Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of $2,433 million compared to $3,163 million a year ago. Operating income was $256 million compared to $295 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $209 million compared to $294 million a year ago. Net income was $131 million compared to $185 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per common share were $0.30 compared to $0.43 a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $666 million compared to $380 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were $309 million compared to $286 million a year ago. First quarter 2015 core operating income was $68 million compared with $75 million for the same period last year. The company reaffirmed that its earnings estimate for 2015 utility operations is in the range of $0.71 to $0.75 per diluted share. The company expects its 2015 earnings estimate from its equity investment in midstream operations to be in the range of $0.29 to $0.35 per diluted share. On a consolidated basis, the company reaffirms earnings on a guidance basis for 2015 in the range of $1.00 to $1.10 per diluted share. The company's projected capital spending remains on target for the year 2015 at $1.5 billion, a 9% increase over 2014. The company expects consolidated effective tax rate of approximately 37%.

CenterPoint Energy, Inc. to File Application to Construct 345-kV Electric Transmission Line

CenterPoint Energy, Inc.'s electric utility will file an application for a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) to construct a portion of the Houston Import Project, a 130-mile, 345-kV transmission line that will run from Harris County to Limestone County. CenterPoint Energy is responsible for constructing and maintaining the southern portion of the line, known as the Brazos Valley Connection, which will run from Harris to Grimes County. The northern portion of the transmission line will be constructed by Cross Texas Transmission, and will run from Grimes to Limestone County. The length of the Brazos Valley Connection will be between 60 miles and 78 miles depending upon the route approved by the PUC. CenterPoint Energy estimates the total project capital cost of the Brazos Valley Connection will be between $276 million and $383 depending upon the route approved by the PUC. At the conclusion of the project, the estimated impact to a residential customer within CenterPoint Energy's service territory using 1,000 kWh per month would be approximately $0.25 per month.
