Canadian National Railway Company, together with its subsidiaries, engages in rail and related transportation business in North America. It offers transportation services that include rail, intermodal container, and trucking services; and supply chain solutions, including warehousing and distribution, cargoflo, logistics parks, freight forwarding, customs brokerage service, industrial development, and marine services. The company transports various goods, such as automotive, coal, fertilizers, food and beverages, forest products, dimensional and heavy loads, shipping grains, metal and minerals, petroleum and chemicals, specialty crops, and intermodal products. It operates a network of approximately 20,000 route miles of track spans Canada and mid-America, from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to the Gulf of Mexico. It serves the ports of Vancouver, Prince Rupert (British Columbia), Montreal, Halifax, New Orleans, and Mobile (Alabama); and the metropolitan areas of Toronto, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Duluth (Minnesota)/Superior (Wisconsin), Green Bay (Wisconsin), Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, and Jackson (Mississippi), with connections to all points in North America. Canadian National Railway Company was founded in 1922 and is headquartered in Montreal, Canada.

Canadian National Railway Company reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net income of CAD 886 million, or CAD 1.10 per diluted share compared with net income of CAD 847 million or CAD 1.03 per diluted share for second-quarter 2014. Operating income was CAD 1,362 million compared to CAD 1,258 million for the same period a year ago. Income before income taxes was CAD 1,273 million compared to CAD 1,169 million for the same period a year ago. Net income was CAD 847 million or CAD 1.03 per diluted share compared to CAD 717 million or CAD 0.84 per diluted share for the same period a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was CAD 1,203 million compared to CAD 1,273 million for the same period a year ago. Property additions were of CAD 659 million compared to CAD 482 million for the same period a year ago. Adjusted net income was CAD 928 million compared to CAD 847 million for the same period a year ago. The adjusted diluted EPS were CAD 1.15 against CAD 1.03 for the same period a year ago. Free cash flow was CAD 530 million compared to CAD 776 million for the same period a year ago. For six months, the company reported revenues of CAD 6,223 million compared to CAD 5,809 million for the same period a year ago. Operating income was CAD 2,425 million compared to CAD 2,078 million for the same period a year ago. Income before income taxes was CAD 2,236 million compared to CAD 1,991 million for the same period a year ago. Net income was CAD 1,590 million or CAD 1.96 per diluted share compared to CAD 1,470 million or CAD 1.77 per diluted share for the same period a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was CAD 2,195 million compared to CAD 1,918 million for the same period a year ago. Property additions were of CAD 1,127 million compared to CAD 730 million for the same period a year ago. Free cash flow for the first six months of 2015 was CAD 1,051 million compared with CAD 1,270 million for the year-earlier period. This is mostly attributable to higher cash flow from operations for CAD 277 million at CAD 2.2 billion, which was partly offset by higher capital expenditures for CAD 400 million. Adjusted net income was CAD 1,632 million compared to CAD 1,398 million for the same period a year ago. The adjusted diluted EPS were CAD 2.01 against CAD 1.68 for the same period a year ago. The company is reaffirming its 2015 financial outlook, calling for double-digit EPS growth over the 2014 adjusted diluted EPS of CAD 3.76.
