The company’s Electric Utility segment engages in the generation, purchase, distribution, and sale of electricity to residential, commercial, and various industrial customers in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. It operates a network of coal, gas, hydroelectric, oil, and wind generation plants. This segment’s distribution system includes 434 miles of high-voltage distribution radial lines; 4,261 miles of high-voltage distribution overhead lines; 18 miles of high-voltage distribution underground lines; 56,022 miles of electric distribution overhead lines; 10,304 miles of underground distribution lines; and substations with an aggregate transformer capacity of 24 million thousand volt-amperes. The company’s Gas Utility segment is involved in the purchase, transmission, storage, distribution, and sale of natural gas. This segment’s gas distribution and transmission system comprises 27,169 miles of distribution mains; 1,685 miles of transmission lines; 7 compressor stations with a total of 168,721 installed and available horsepower; and 15 gas storage fields with an aggregate storage capacity of 309 billion cubic feet of gas and a working gas volume of 151 billion cubic feet. Its Enterprises segment engages in the independent power production and marketing activities. As of December 31, 2014, this segment had ownership interests in independent power plants fueled by natural gas, coal, and biomass totaling 1,035 net megawatts. The company also provides unsecured consumer installment loans for financing home improvements. CMS Energy Corporation was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Jackson, Michigan.

CMS Energy Corp. reported un-audited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and first half ended June 3-, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net income available to common stockholders of $67 million, or $0.25 per diluted share compared to $83 million or $0.30 per diluted share in the last year. The company reported operating revenue of $1,350 million compared to $1,468 million, operating income of $204 million compared to $235 million and income before income taxes of $104 million compared to $127 million for the last year. For the first half, the company reported net income available to common stockholders of $269 million, or $0.98 per diluted share compared to $287 million, or $1.05 per diluted share in the last year. Adjusted (non-Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) earnings per share for the second quarter and first half were the same as reported amounts. Earnings per share in 2015 grew 3 cents compared with 2014 on a weather-normalized basis. CMS Energy Corp. and Consumers Energy Appoint John G. Sznewajs as Board of Director

John G. Sznewajs, vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer of Masco Corporation, has been elected to CMS Energy's Board of Directors, effective July 15, 2015. He also is joining the Board of Directors of Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy. Sznewajs is responsible for strategic and operational financial functions for Masco. He also serves as Masco's corporate treasurer and has oversight of information technology and several of Masco's European businesses. In addition to his financial expertise, Sznewajs has almost 20 years of experience in business and corporate development.
