Colony Capital, Inc., a commercial real estate and investment management company, acquires, originates, and manages a portfolio of real estate-related debt and equity investments in North America and Europe. It operates through four segments: Real Estate Debt Investments, Light Industrial Portfolio, Single-Family Residential Rentals, and Other Real Estate Equity Investments. The company’s real estate debt investments include purchase of performing, sub-performing, and/or non-performing commercial real estate debt; and origination of structured senior and subordinate debt secured by mortgages and/or equity interests in commercial real estate. Its real estate equity investments comprise investment in single-family homes for rent; other real estate equity, which include triple net lease investments, real estate acquired in settlement of loans, common equity in real estate or related companies, and certain preferred equity investments; and a portfolio of light industrial real estate assets and associated operating platform. The company is qualified as a real estate investment trust (REIT) under the Internal Revenue Code. As a REIT, its net income would be exempt from federal taxation to the extent that it is distributed as dividends to shareholders. The company was formerly known as Colony Financial, Inc. and changed its name to Colony Capital, Inc. in April 2015. Colony Capital, Inc. was founded in 2009 and is based in Santa Monica, California.

Statoil Agrees to Sell Head Office Building in the Forus Business District of Stavanger to Colony Capital

Statoil announced that it has agreed to sell its head office building in the Forus business district of Stavanger to Colony Capital. Simultaneously, Statoil signed a 15-year leaseback agreement with Colony Capital, with an option to be extended. The building, which was put up for sale last winter, will be owned by Colony Capital, but Statoil will keep responsibility for the property's operation and maintenance.

On May 6, 2015, the Board of Directors of Colony Capital, Inc. declared a dividend of $0.37 per share of Class A and Class B common stock for the second quarter of 2015, a cash dividend of $0.53125 per share on the company's 8.50% Series A cumulative perpetual preferred stock for the quarterly period ending July 15, 2015, a cash dividend of $0.46875 per share on the company’s 7.50% Series B cumulative perpetual preferred stock for the quarterly period ending July 15, 2015, and a cash dividend of $0.4552 per share on the company’s 7.125% Series C cumulative perpetual preferred stock for the quarterly period ending July 15, 2015. All dividends will be paid on July 15, 2015 to respective stockholders of record on June 30, 2015. The company reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. Total income was $116,612,000 compared to $59,207,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $16,865,000 compared to $30,095,000 a year ago. Impairment of real estate for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015 was $1,544,000 compared to $61,000 a year ago.
