cropenergies ag (CE2) Key Developments

CropEnergies AG Provides Preliminary Earnings Guidance for the First Quarter of 2016 and updates Earnings Guidance for the Year 2016

CropEnergies AG provided preliminary earnings guidance for the first quarter of 2016. For the quarter, the company maintained revenues slightly below the previous year's level as expected according to preliminary figures. They reached approximately EUR 198 million (in 2014, EUR 208 million). At the same time, operating profit increased significantly to approximately EUR 14 million ((in 2014, EUR 5 million). The main reason for the increase in earnings was the encouraging improvement of bioethanol prices in Europe, lower raw material prices as well as improvements in the cost structure especially due to the pause in production of the plant in Wilton, UK. Outside of the operating profit, restructuring costs of EUR 5 million were incurred. Thus, the EBIT increased to EUR 9 million. The company announced that the good start into the financial year prompts CropEnergies to adjust the outlook for the full financial year 2016. Operating profit (before restructuring costs and special items) is now expected to be in the range of EUR 10 million to EUR 40 million and thus positive for the full financial year 2016. At the same time, the reduction in revenues following the pause in production in the British plant is expected to be less pronounced. The company expects revenues in the range of EUR 675 million to EUR 725 million.

CropEnergies AG Reports Consolidated Earnings and Production Results for the Full Year Ended February 28, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Financial Year 2016

CropEnergies AG reported consolidated earnings and production results for the full year ended February 28, 2015. For the period, the company was able to increase revenues by 6% to EUR 827 million against EUR 780 million a year ago. The main reason for the growth in Revenue was the increase in bioethanol production. EBITDA decreased to EUR 25.2 million against EUR 68.5 million a year ago. This led to a decrease in operating profit to a loss of EUR 11 million against operating profit of EUR 35 million. In addition to this, the consolidated result was burdened by non-recurring expenditures of EUR 37 million by the temporary standstill of the production plant in Wilton, UK. All in all, the company closes the financial year with a net loss of the year of EUR 58 million against net profit of EUR 12 million a year ago. For the period, the company increased production to over 1 million cubic meters for the first time and produced a total of 1,056,000 cubic meters of bioethanol compared to 884,000 cubic meters of bioethanol a year ago. The volumes of dried food and animal feed products produced increased to 537,000 tonnes against 413,000 tonnes a year ago. For the financial year 2016, the company expects a stabilization of earnings despite initially expected lower prices for bioethanol. The bioethanol prices have risen significantly over the last few weeks, but they are still very volatile which makes an outlook for the financial year 2016 difficult. The company expects revenues in the range of EUR 625 to EUR 675 million. Against this background, an EBITDA, adjusted for special items, of EUR 15 million to EUR 45 million is expected for the financial year 2016. After depreciation, an operating loss in the range of EUR 20 million to operating profit of EUR 10 million is expected.
