Canara Bank provides banking products and services in India and internationally. The company offers personal banking services, such as savings, current, and salary accounts, as well as re-investment plans, tax saver and gold schemes, recurring deposits, deposit schemes for senior citizens and children, unclaimed deposits, and fixed deposits; and loan products, including housing, vehicle, consumer, home improvement, site, teachers, mortgage, gold, personal, and online education loans, as well as loans for senior citizens and owners of the property against rents receivable, reverse mortgage loans for senior citizens, loans against shares/debentures/bonds/units, and loans for medical practitioners. It provides ATM-cum- debit, credit, and prepaid cards; inter-bank funds transfer services, mutual funds, life and general insurance products, foreign exchange and international banking services, and consultancy and depository services, as well as ancillary services comprising retail sale of gold coins, safe deposit lockers, and custody services. In addition, it offers corporate banking services consisting of current, fixed, and recurring deposits, as well as re-investment plans; term loans, export and working capital finance, and infrastructure finance; syndication services; IPO monitoring and merchant banking services; Internet banking; and technology up gradation fund schemes. Further, the company provides NRI banking services, such as deposits, loans and advances, remittance and investment facilities, consultancy services, and other banking services. Additionally, it offers priority and SME banking services comprising agriculture and rural credit, education and other priority sector loans, government sponsored schemes, agri-marketing and agri-consultancy services, and rural development schemes. The company operates 5,682 branches, including 7 overseas branches and 8,533 ATMs. Canara Bank was founded in 1906 and is headquartered in Bengaluru, India.

SBI, JSW, Ashok Leyland And Others Seek To Raise Funds

Fund-raising from institutional investors seems to be gaining favour. State Bank of India (NSEI:SBIN), JSW Steel Ltd. (BSE:500228) and Ashok Leyland Limited (BSE:500477) have lined up plans to raise over INR 550 billion through the route. Most of the companies eyeing to mobilise fresh capital through Qualified Institutional Placements (QIPs) or Institutional Placement Programmes (IPPs) routes are from the banking sector. The companies that have lined up such plans include Videocon Industries Ltd. (BSE:511389), Union Bank of India (BSE:532477), Yes Bank Limited (BSE:532648), Syndicate Bank (BSE:532276), Canara Bank Limited (BSE:532483), Central Bank of India (BSE:532885), Natco Pharma Limited (BSE:524816), Vijaya Bank Ltd. (BSE:532401), City Union Bank Ltd. (BSE:532210) , IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Ltd. (BSE:532907), Omaxe Ltd. (BSE:532880), Andhra Bank (BSE:532418) and United Bank of India (BSE:533171). The funds would be used for expansion plans, refinancing of debt and to meet working capital requirements. Some of these companies have already received approval from their respective boards and shareholders for the fund-raising plans while others are in the process of securing the necessary clearances. Individually, State Bank of India plans to garner up to INR 150 billion through QIP/IPP route. Yes Bank intends to raise INR 64 billion and Videocon and Central Bank of India aim to mop up INR 50 billion each. Union Bank of India is targeting to rake in INR 37 billion. JSW Steel is eyeing an amount of INR 40 billion. Ashok Leyland and Syndicate Bank plan to raise INR 20 billion.

Canara Bank announced that All India Bank Officers' Confederation has given a call for strike on 15th and 16th July, 2015 in Kerala State. The strike call is given by All India Bank Officers' Confederation is at Industry level and not for Bank level issues. In the bank, Canara Bank Officers Association is affiliated to AIBOC.
