Cavium Adds Support for NVIDIA GPU Accelerators in 64-bit ARMv8-A ThunderX Processor Family

Cavium, Inc. announced it has added support for NVIDIA Tesla GPU accelerators in its ThunderX ARM processor family. The ThunderX product family is Cavium's 64-bit ARMv8 server processor for next generation data center and cloud applications. The ThunderX family integrates up to 48 high performance ARMv8-A custom cores, single and dual socket configurations, high memory bandwidth, large memory capacity, integrated hardware accelerators, integrated feature rich high bandwidth network and storage IO, fully virtualized core and IO, and scalable high bandwidth, low latency Ethernet fabric ThunderX enables best in class performance per dollar and performance per watt. The NVIDIA Tesla Accelerated Computing Platform is the leading platform for accelerating data analytics, deep learning and scientific computing. By adding support for Tesla GPUs, Cavium will further enhance the performance and compute efficiency that ThunderX delivers to the server market. Many key application and market segments will benefit directly from this combination, including: High performance computing (HPC) workloads that require high levels of double precision floating point compute performance. These compute workloads also require high data throughput and compute density which ThunderX delivers in both 48 core single socket configurations and 96 core dual socket configurations; Data analytics workloads that require real-time results to drive critical business decisions. The integration of compute and storage that ThunderX delivers in an optimized SoC (System on Chip) is critical to providing the complete system solution required for leading data scientists. Cavium will work closely with NVIDIA to optimize the system hardware and software to enable the combination of Tesla GPU accelerators with Cavium's ThunderX processors. ThunderX processors with support for NVIDIA Tesla GPU accelerators are expected to be available in second quarter of 2015.

Hyve Solutions Corp and Cavium, Inc. Collaborate to Deliver 64-Bit Arm-Based Server Solutions

Hyve Solutions Corporation announced its strategic relationship with Cavium, Inc. to bring 64-bit ARM-based volume server solutions to market via its AmbientSeries, addressing the hyper-scale cloud and datacenter market as well as one of the industry's first dual-socket ARMv8 Open Compute platform. The AmbientSeries platform meets the demands of hyper-scale datacenter environments, providing a system with high-density storage, high performance compute and significant networking bandwidth. ThunderX powered AmbientSeries servers with 48 cores, integrated SATAv3, 10/40 GbE connectivity and accelerators for storage, big data, networking and security provide a greater price, performance and power value proposition over alternative solutions. Hyve Solutions and Cavium are also announcing one of the industry’s first dual socket ARMv8 Open Compute platform. The sled is designed to serve as an Open Compute server and can be connected to OpenVault for additional storage capacity. The ThunderX SoC with 96 cores in a dual socket configuration, 10/40 GbE network IO integration and SATAv3 integration delivers one of the industry’s high core count, cost-effective and power-efficient OCP server platforms. ThunderX product family is Cavium’s 64-bit ARMv8-A server processor for next generation datacenter and cloud applications. With high performance custom cores, single and dual socket configurations, high memory bandwidth, large memory capacity, integrated hardware accelerators, integrated feature rich high bandwidth network and storage IO, fully virtualized core and IO, and scalable high bandwidth, low latency Ethernet fabric, ThunderX enables best in class performance per dollar and performance per watt. Anritsu Company and Cavium, Inc. Develop Small Cell Manufacturing Test Solution

Anritsu Company announces that it has developed a turnkey small cell manufacturing test solution with Cavium, Inc. that also supports technologies such as cellular, WLAN 802.11ac, Bluetooth, ZigBee (802.15.4), and location-based services (LBS). Leveraging the flexible MT8870A Universal Test Set platform, Anritsu is addressing the growing need for small cell test solutions that can lower the cost of test and speed time to market of next-generation wireless chipsets and devices. Optimized for high-volume manufacturing environments, the MT8870A is a more cost-efficient and comprehensive alternative to full-featured spectrum analyzers and signal generators traditionally used in small cell production applications. Because the MT8870A now supports small cell as well as cellular, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, ZigBee and GPS, chipset and device manufacturers can standardize on a single solution to validate products that integrate numerous technologies. The MT8870A is an all-in-one platform with a modular design that can accommodate up to four test modules, all of which feature a high-speed CPU and large memory, making it well suited for manufacturing environments. Its flexible design lowers test costs and allows for faster measurements, as well as makes it simpler and more cost-efficient to expand as test needs change. By combining four instruments into one mainframe, the MT8870A occupies a footprint that is 50%-75% smaller than test solutions with similar measurement capability. With continuous frequency coverage from 10 MHz to 6 GHz and 160 MHz bandwidth, the MT8870A has the performance to address current test needs, as well as next-generation designs. Four RF test ports per TRx module allow the MT8870A to support up to 16 RF connections.
