China Automobile Parts Holdings Limited Enters into Memorandum of Understanding with Sri Elastomers Sdn. Bhd

The Board of Directors of China Automobile Parts Holdings Limited (CAP) announced that the company had on 18 March 2015 entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sri Elastomers Sdn. Bhd. (SRI). The objective of the MOU is to record the intention to form an alliance with SRI to jointly venture to commercialize the SRI Technology in the city of Xiamen, Fujian Province, China with the establishment of a production facility to recycle “end of life” tires and other processed rubber products to produce SRI Compound to be used in the production of new rubber products. The MOU will provide an opportunity for CAP to venture into related industry in recycling rubber products by leveraging on SRI’s business network and customer base. This MOU shall be valid for a period of six months effective from the date of this MOU and may be extended by mutual agreement.

China Automobile Parts Holdings Limited Set to Receive Licence to Produce Rubber Compound in China

China Automobile Parts Holdings Ltd. announced that the company to receive a licence to establish a production facility in Xiamen (Fujian Province), China, to produce a rubber compound using Malaysian technology. The company is looking to commercialise the rubber recycling technology of SRI Elastomers Sdn Bhd (SRI) which is focused on eco-friendly and sustainable solutions using recycled tyres and waste rubber products. Both companies estimated the capital expense required to build the manufacturing facility is about $3 million with the share proportion to be decided when the agreement is finalised. According to the MoU,CAP has the right to produce, market, sell and distribute the SRI compound exclusively in Fujian Province. The necessary technical and processing expertise would be provided by SRI. The facility in China is expected to operate nine months after the final agreement is signed and is capable of producing about 10,000 tonnes of compound rubber annually. The facility would replicate the Malaysian plant, except for the scale.
