SNC-Lavalin Consortium Finalizes $4 Billion Contract with Canam Group Inc. to Build Montreal Bridge

SNC-Lavalin announced that the consortium has in turn awarded a $2.15-billion construction contract to another joint venture in which it has a 50% stake. The current bridge across the St. Lawrence River is one of the business crossings in the country with 40 million to 60 million cars, trucks and buses passing over it each year. Construction of the new span is set to begin this summer and be completed by the end of 2018, with the rest of the project finished in 2019. It will also include a small bridge for Nun's Island, reconstruction of the federal portion of a highway in the area and the operation of tolls. Overall, the project is expected to cost $4.24 billion and create about 30,000 jobs.

Canam Group Wins Contract to Supply Steel for Champlain Bridge

Canam Group announced that it has won the large contract in the steel company's history after being selected to supply steel and fabricate the superstructure for Montreal's new Champlain bridge. The contract is expected to be finalized after the SNC-Lavalin-led consortium building the bridge signs a formal agreement with the federal government this summer. The value of the contract wasn't disclosed, but Canam said it will be larger than the $200 million deal it signed in November to build the stadium for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. The new 3.4-kilometre bridge spanning the St. Lawrence River is scheduled to open in 2018.

Canam Group Inc. Approves Dividend, Payable on June 30, 2015; Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 28, 2015

The Board of Directors of Canam Group Inc. approved a dividend of CAD 0.04 per share payable on June 30, 2015 to shareholders of record on June 16, 2015. The company announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 28, 2015. For the quarter, the company’s revenues totaled CAD 309.1 million compared to revenues of CAD 239.3 million for the same quarter in 2014. The increase is attributable to higher revenues from heavy structural steel, and joist and steel deck activities in addition to the US dollar's rise against the Canadian dollar. Adjusted EBITDA amounted to CAD 17.7 million, or 5.7% of revenues, compared to CAD 9.8 million, or 4.1% of revenues, for the same quarter in 2014. The increase in 2015 is due, in part, to the growth in sales volume combined with a rise in the adjusted gross margin for a number of the corporation's activities. Net income attributable to shareholders totaled CAD 4.4 million, or CAD 0.10 per share, compared to CAD 0.5 million, or CAD 0.01 in basic net earnings per share, for the same period in 2014. Income before income tax was CAD 6,820,000 compared to CAD 412,000 a year ago. Cash flows from operating activities were CAD 32,551,000 compared to cash flows used in operating activities of CAD 17,622,000 a year ago. Additions to property, plant and equipment was CAD 4,884,000 compared to CAD 3,631,000 a year ago. Additions to intangible assets were CAD 242,000 compared to CAD 337,000 a year ago.
