Broadwind Energy, Inc. provides products and services to the energy, mining, and infrastructure sector customers primarily in the United States. It operates through three segments: Towers and Weldments, Gearing, and Services. The Towers and Weldments segment manufactures towers that are designed for various megawatt wind turbines, as well as specialty fabrications and specialty weldments for mining and other industrial customers. The Gearing segment engineers, builds, and remanufactures precision gears and gearing systems for oil and gas, wind energy, mining, steel, and other industrial applications. The Services segment provides a range of services, including non-routine maintenance services for kilowatt and megawatt turbines primarily to wind farm developers and operators. This segment also offers field services to the wind energy industry; and operates drivetrain service center. The company provides its products and services to various wind energy customers, such as wind turbine manufacturers, wind farm developers, and wind farm operators, as well as oil and gas, mining, and other infrastructure industries. It sells its products through its sales force and manufacturers' representatives. The company was formerly known as Tower Tech Holdings Inc. and changed its name to Broadwind Energy, Inc. in 2008. Broadwind Energy, Inc. is headquartered in Cicero, Illinois.

Broadwind Energy, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported operating loss of $5,229,000 against $3,950,000 for the same period a year ago. Loss from continuing operations was $5,171,000 against $3,746,000 for the same period a year ago. Net loss was $5,171,000 or $0.35 loss per share against $3,746,000 or $0.26 loss per share for the same period a year ago. The $0.09 per share reduction was due to weaker Towers and Weldments segment results largely offset by improvements in the company's other business segments, mainly Gearing. Revenues were $53,798,000 against $56,397,000 for the same period a year ago, reflecting lower tower production partly offset by increased activity in the Services segment. Negative Adjusted EBITDA was $1,833,000 against adjusted EBITDA of $2,754,000 for the same period a year ago. For the year, the company reported operating loss of $5,934,000 against $13,210,000 for the same period a year ago. Loss from continuing operations was $6,168,000 against $10,389,000 for the same period a year ago. Net loss was $6,168,000 or $0.42 loss per share against $10,499,000 or $0.73 loss per share for the same period a year ago. Revenues were $241,268,000 against $215,710,000 for the same period a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities of continued operations was $2,501,000 against $26,254,000 for the same period a year ago. Purchases of property and equipment were $6,504,000 against $6,950,000 for the same period a year ago. Negative Adjusted EBITDA was $8,877,000 against adjusted EBITDA of $10,346,000 for the same period a year ago. The company provided revenue guidance for the first quarter of full year of 2015. For the full year, the company expects the overall revenue growth rate in the 6% to 8% range, to approximately $255 million to $260 million, mainly due to higher tower production and some growth in Weldments and Services. The company expected to generate positive operating income, although the results will be skewed to the second half of the year. And the company invests $5 million to $6 million in capital, net of asset sales. For the first quarter, the company’s delayed revenue recognition on more than $5 million of tower production, the company’s first quarter revenue should be in the range of $48 million to $51 million, and the company project an operating loss in the $3 million to $5 million range, which includes about a $1 million adverse effect from the revenue slippage.

On February 23, 2015, William T. Fejes, Jr. delivered notice of his resignation from the Board of Directors of Broadwind Energy, Inc., effective immediately. Mr. Fejes was the chairman of the Board's Governance/Nominating Committee and also served on the Board's Audit Committee. Upon the effective date of Mr. Fejes' resignation, David P. Reiland replaced Mr. Fejes as the chairman of the Governance/Nominating Committee; Terence P. Fox replaced Mr. Fejes on the Audit Committee; and Thomas A. Wagner joined the Governance/Nominating Committee.
