Banca Popolare di Milano S.c. a r.l. provides various banking products and services for individual customers, small businesses, SMEs, and enterprises. It operates through Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Treasury & Investment Banking, and Wealth Management segments. The company accepts various deposit products, such as current and savings accounts, as well as repurchase agreements and other deposits; and offers mortgage loans, personal loans, salary assignments, finance leases, and other loans, as well as provides credit cards. It also offers e-money, insurance, BPM members’ club, Internet banking, and asset management services. In addition, the company manages securities portfolio, trades its own account in securities, and foreign exchange activities. Further, it is involved in managing the issued securities; and providing consumer credit and brokerage services, as well as offers concession of mezzanine loans for trading in property portfolios and/or property development. As of 31 December, 2013, the company operated a network of 716 retail branches, 18 corporate banking centers, and 18 private banking centers, as well as 4 direct branches and 20 financial shops in Lombardia, Piemonte, Lazio, Puglia, Emilia Romagna, and other regions. Banca Popolare di Milano S.c. a r.l. was founded in 1865 and is based in Milan, Italy.

Banca Popolare di Milano Seeks Acquisitions

Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (BIT:PMI) is ready to start looking at possible tie-ups and would like to seal a merger before its planned conversion into joint-stock company in the next 18 months. The move is expected to spur defensive mergers among banks seeking to boost their size and profitability and stave off possible hostile takeovers. Popolare di Milano CEO Giuseppe Castagna said the bank would start looking at possible tie-ups after its shareholders approved 2014 results, but had had no contacts yet.

Banca Popolare Di Milano Denies Exploring Strategic Options

Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (BIT:PMI) denied working with JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) on strategic options, Reuters reported, citing a Banca Popolare spokeswoman. The statement follows a March 26 Reuters report that Banca Popolare was reviewing merger options with JPMorgan Chase. "We strongly deny this," the spokeswoman told Reuters. "The bank has no agreement with any adviser on strategic options."

Banks Reportedly Mulls Acquisition Of Banca Popolare di Milano

Banco Popolare, Banca popolare dell'Emilia Romagna, Società cooperativa. (BIT:BPE) and Banca Carige S.p.A. (BIT:CRG)is reportedly seeking acquisition of Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (BIT:PMI). “Italy’s Banca Popolare di Milano (PMII.MI) is working with JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) to review merger options for the Milan-based cooperative lender, “two sources familiar with the matter said on March 27, 2015. “Banco Popolare, Banca popolare dell'Emilia Romagna, Società cooperativa. (BIT:BPE) and Banca Carige S.p.A. (BIT:CRG); were the most likely candidates for a merger,” the sources said. Popolare di Milano was not immediately available for a comment. All the other banks declined to comment.
