BMW AG to Launch New Plug-In Petrol-Electric X5 at 2015 Shanghai Auto Show

BMW AG is launching its new plug-in petrol-electric X5 at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. The model is equipped with a four-cylinder turbocharged 240bhp 2.0-litre engine with an 111hp electric motor, coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The combined output is rated at 308hp and 332lb-ft of torque, which enables the X5 xDrive40e to accelerate from zero to 60mph in 6.5 seconds and return a claimed 85.6mpg on the combined cycle. CO2 emissions are rated at 77g/km.

Nokia's Map Business Reportedly Attracts Bidders

The map business of Nokia Corporation (HLSE:NOK1V) attracted interest from at least four potential buyers including Facebook, Inc. (NasdaqGS:FB), and a consortium of Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (DB:BMW), AUDI AG (DB:NSU) and Daimler AG (XTRA:DAI), according to a German magazine, Manager Magazin. The magazine, citing people familiar with the matter, also mentioned that Hellman & Friedman LLC is also interested in the map business. Nokia, Facebook declined to comment on the report. Hellman & Friedman, BMW, Audi and Daimler were not immediately available for comment.

BMW Group Breaks Ground on New Port Facility in Galveston, Texas

The BMW Group broke ground at the future site of a new Vehicle Distribution Center at the Port of Galveston. BMW is expanding its vehicle distribution network to southeastern Texas to better serve the 45 BMW and MINI dealers within four states (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas) that make up a part of the Southern Region. Craig Westbrook, Vice President -- Aftersales, BMW of North America, Jim Goldsmith, Vehicle Processing and Distribution Department Head, BMW of North America, John Felitto, President of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Vehicle Services Americas and Benjamin Holland, Chairperson, Port of Galveston were on hand to help break ground for the new facility. The facility will be owned and operated by WWL Vehicle Services Americas under BMW Group on-site management.
