BHP Billiton Plc, together with its subsidiaries, operates as a resources company that discovers, acquires, develops, and markets natural resources worldwide. The company engages in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas; development of potash; mining of metallurgical coal, thermal coal, copper, silver, lead, zinc, molybdenum, uranium, gold, and iron ore; mining, refining of bauxite into alumina, and smelting of alumina into aluminum metal; and mining and production of nickel products, as well as manganese metal and alloys. It is also involved in the exploration, development, and production of hydrocarbons; and nickel mining smelting and refining, as well as provision of administrative services. BHP Billiton plc Announces Potash, Petroleum Heads

BHP Billiton has appointed Dean Dalla Valle as the chief commercial officer taking charge of the potash business. Tim Cutt, who was earlier president potash and petroleum, will now concentrate exclusively on the petroleum business. Dalla Valle will retain the current responsibilities as president health, safety, environment, marketing and technology as well. He will assume responsibility for potash from August 1, 2015. Cutt will be president petroleum from July 1. Athalie Williams, whose current title is president human resources, will take on the title of chief people officer. Tony Cudmore, whose current title is president corporate affairs, will take on the title of chief public affairs officer.

BHP Mulls Acquisitions

BHP Billiton plc (LSE:BLT) is seeking acquisitions. Andrew Mackenzie, BHP Billiton Chief Executive Officer says, BHP is prepared to make opportunistic acquisitions of conventional oil projects, but "it would have to be one hell of a deal". "Should an opportunity arise, we are prepared to move, but it has tough competition to beat further investment in our own portfolio," Mackenzie said on May 6, 2015.
