Baker Hughes Incorporated supplies oilfield services, products, technology, and systems to the oil and natural gas industry worldwide. The company offers drilling and evaluation products and services, which include drill bits for performance drilling, hole enlargement, and coring; conventional and rotary steerable systems used to drill wells; measurement-while-drilling and logging-while-drilling systems to perform reservoir navigation services; drilling optimization services; tools for coil tubing drilling and wellbore re-entry systems; coring drilling systems; surface logging; emulsion and water-based drilling fluids systems; reservoir drill-in fluids; and fluids environmental services. Its drilling and evaluation products and services also comprise wire line services, such as tools for open hole and cased hole well logging to gather data to perform petro physical and geophysical analysis; reservoir evaluation coring; casing perforation; fluid characterization; production logging; well integrity testing; pipe recovery; and seismic and micro seismic services. In addition, the company provides completion and production products and services consisting of completion systems used to control the flow of hydrocarbons within a wellbore; wellbore intervention products and services to enhance the performance of existing wellbores; intelligent production system products and services to monitor and control the production from individual wells or fields; artificial lifts, such as electric submersible pump systems, progressing cavity pump systems, gas lift systems, and surface horizontal pumping systems to lift oil and water; chemicals and chemical application systems; and cementing, stimulation, and coil tubing services. Further, it offers industrial products and services to the downstream chemicals, and process and pipeline industries. The company operates in approximately 80 countries. Baker Hughes Incorporated was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

For the month, the company reported international rig count for September 2015 was 1,140, up 3 from the 1,137 counted in August 2015, and down 183 from the 1,323 counted in September 2014. The international offshore rig count for September 2015 was 268, down 2 from the 270 counted in August 2015, and down 65 from the 333 counted in September 2014. The average U.S. rig count for September 2015 was 848, down 35 from the 883 counted in August 2015, and down 1,082 from the 1,930 counted in September 2014. The average Canadian rig count for September 2015 was 183, down 23 from the 206 counted in August 2015, and down 223 from the 406 counted in September 2014. Baker Hughes And Halliburton To Divest Certain Businesses

In order to permit completion of Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) acquisition of Baker Hughes Incorporated (NYSE:BHI), additional businesses are intended to be divested which are Halliburton's expandable liner hangers business, which is part of its Completion & Production Division, Baker Hughes' core completions business, which includes: packers, flow control tools, subsurface safety systems, intelligent well systems, permanent monitoring, sand control tools and sand control screens, the Baker Hughes sand control business in the Gulf of Mexico, including two pressure pumping vessels; and Baker Hughes' offshore cementing businesses in Australia, Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico, Norway, and the United Kingdom. The sale of these businesses will be subject to the negotiation of acceptable terms and conditions for the divestitures, the approval of the divesting company’s Board of Directors, and final approval of the Baker Hughes acquisition by competition enforcement authorities. Halliburton anticipates that the companies will complete the sales of these businesses in the same timeframe as, and the closing of the divestitures would be conditioned on, the closing of the pending Baker Hughes acquisition. There is no agreement to date with any competition enforcement authority as to the adequacy of the proposed divestitures. The companies will continue to work constructively with all competition enforcement authorities that have expressed an interest in the proposed transaction. The pending acquisition has received unconditional regulatory clearances in Canada, Kazakhstan, South Africa, and Turkey. The combined 2013 revenue associated with all of the businesses intended to be divested was approximately $5.2 billion. Halliburton Company had received proposals from multiple interested parties for each business.

General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) may be the only buyer for the assets of Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) as Weatherford International plc (NYSE:WFT) has reportedly announced the cancellation of its $1 billion public offering the proceeds of which were to be used for the acquisition of Baker Hughes Incorporated (NYSE:BHI).
