BASF SE operates as a chemical company worldwide. The company operates in five segments: Chemicals, Performance Products, Functional Materials & Solutions, Agricultural Solutions, and Oil and Gas. The Chemicals segment offers solvents, plasticizers, monomers, glues, and electronic chemicals, as well as raw materials for detergents, plastics, textile fibers, paints and coatings, plant protection, and medicines. The Performance Products segment provides dispersions and pigments, care chemicals, nutrition and health, paper chemicals, and performance chemicals that are used in the pharmaceuticals, personal care, and cosmetics, as well as hygiene and household products; and other products for enhancing the processes in the paper, oil and gas production, water treatment, and ore production industries. The Functional Materials & Solutions segment offers catalysts, battery materials, engineering plastics, polyurethane systems, automotive and industrial coatings, and concrete admixtures, as well as construction systems, such as tile adhesives and decorative paints for the automotive, electrical, chemical, and construction industries, as well as for household, and sports and leisure applications. The Oil and Gas segment explores for and produces oil and gas primarily in Europe, Russia, North Africa, and South America. This segment is also involved in the transport, storage, and trade of natural gas in Europe. The company was founded in 1865 and is headquartered in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany.

BASF SE Enters Technology License Agreement with EM.tec Design GmbH for Production of valure(tm)

BASF SE entered into a technology license agreement with EM.tec design GmbH for the production of valure(tm). The new production plant, located in Bingen, Germany, will have an annual capacity of about 1.5 million square meters of surface finished material. With this BASF has extended the availability of valure(tm) globally, complementing the existing production facility in India, which started up last year. BASF supports its licensing partners with the chemistry, technology know-how, and joint development with customers as well as application-oriented services. valure(tm) is a technology to create laser structured surfaces with almost limitless design freedom to create haptics and textures ranging from soft touch to hard, leather graining, the appearance of velvet and geometric patterns and impressions.

BASF Starts Building Chemical Catalysts Plant in China

BASF has started the construction of its new world-scale chemical catalysts production plant in Shanghai, China. The facility, located at the company's Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in Caojing, is expected to start up in the fourth quarter of 2016, the company said in a statement. The plant is BASF's first process catalysts manufacturing facility in the Asia Pacific. It will produce base metal catalysts, custom catalysts and adsorbents to meet growing Chinese and Asian market demand.
