This segment develops and supports software systems for geospatial tasking for the U.S. defense and intelligent communities; and collects, manages, and exploits information to enable government and commercial clients to reveal intelligence, maintain security, optimize performance, and manage risk, as well as supplies information assurance products and services to the financial services and telecommunications sectors. The company’s Platforms & Services (US) segment supplies ship repair services, munitions facilities management, and fixed and rotary wing aircraft support services; and designs, develops, produces, supports, and upgrades armored combat vehicles, artillery systems, naval guns, missile launchers, and munitions. BAE Systems plc’s Platforms & Services (UK) segment offers programs for the production and support of aircraft, as well as develops unmanned air systems and defense information systems. BAE Systems Secures $43 Million Mission Training Contract to Support National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has awarded BAE Systems, a five-year contract with an estimated total value of $43 million to provide mission essential training and instructional support to NGA analysts and intelligence officers stationed across the United States and around the world. Under the Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Learning Program contract, BAE Systems experts will provide NGA analysts with a robust training curriculum that includes more than 70 different courses from entry- through expert-level. The courses promote a core curriculum designed to sharpen analystsâ expertise in tradecraft areas such as imagery analysis, Activity Based Intelligence, and human geography. These courses also provide context and background on different tools and sensors to help analysts expedite data collection, enrich their talents in processing intelligence, and enhance their skills in imagery collection management.

BAE Systems plc Wins GBP 50 Million Vehicle Engineering Support Contract from UK MOD

BAE Systems plc announced that its vehicles business has won a GBP 50 million, five-year contract from the UK Ministry of Defence, or MOD, to provide engineering support for the British Army's armored vehicle fleet. The work will help protect the capabilities of the British Army now and into the future. The contract, which sustains around 100 jobs at Telford, Shropshire and other UK sites, commenced on 1 January 2015 and covers a wide range of armoured vehicles in the fleet, including light, medium and heavy armoured vehicles. The innovative contracting arrangement merges existing support contracts into a more efficient and effective agreement. Under its terms, BAE Systems - which maintains design authority - will continue to provide support to Warrior; Titan; Trojan; Panther; Bulldog; Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked); the Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle (CVR(T)) as well as the main battle tank of the British Army - Challenger 2. The company's unique engineering expertise in the upgrade and support of complex military vehicles is unparalleled in the UK with engineers holding specialist knowledge, skills and capabilities in areas such as survivability, combat engineering, vetronics (vehicle electronics) and product safety. The work will be carried out predominantly in Telford, Shropshire, with engineers from Newcastle and Filton, Bristol supporting the heavy armoured vehicles and Panther respectively. Trials work will take place at MOD test sites such as Bovington in Dorset.

The Corporate Security Analysis service employs veteran intelligence analysts capable of navigating multiple layers of the web including traditional and social media, but also deep web forums, niche discussion boards, and file sharing spaces to identify activity of interest and potential impact to business operations. BAE Systems analysts with regional expertise also consider the client's specific area of operation, the nature of their business in that area, and the company's values in creating actionable intelligence reports. By analyzing local news sources in their native language, as well as national news and social media, BAE Systems experts can extract cultural nuances, discover points of influence, and identify emerging trends, allowing clients to focus their attention and prioritize resources to avoid potential problems and develop effective business strategies.
