Verizon Communications Inc., through its subsidiaries, provides communications, information, and entertainment products and services to consumers, businesses, and governmental agencies worldwide. The company’s Wireless segment offers wireless voice and data services; messaging services; service that enables its customers to access the Internet on smartphones, basic phones, notebook computers, and tablets; customers and business-focused multimedia offerings; location-based services; global data services; LTE Internet, a high-speed Internet service; and network access and value added services to support telemetry-type applications. It also offers machine-to-machine services that support devices used in health monitoring, education, manufacturing, utilities, distribution, and consumer products markets, as well as offers smartphones and basic phones, tablets, and other Internet access devices. As of December 31, 2014, it had 108.2 million retail connections. Its Wireline segment provides high-speed Internet, FiOS Internet, and FiOS Video services; voice services, such as local exchange, regional and long distance calling, and voice messaging services, as well as VOIP services; private Internet protocol and Ethernet access and optical services; and Internet protocol, infrastructure and cloud services, machine-to-machine services, security, and other communications services. It also offers voice and data services, such as conferencing and contact center solutions, and private line and data access networks, as well as customer premise equipment, installation, maintenance, and site services; and data, voice, local dial tone, and broadband services primarily to local, long distance, and other carriers. The company has a strategic partnership with AdMobilize. The company was formerly known as Bell Atlantic Corporation and changed its name to Verizon Communications Inc. in June 2000. Verizon Communications Inc. was founded in 1983 and is based in New York, New York.

Cablevision Systems Corp. and Verizon Communications Inc. ended their years-long legal feuds over certain claims in ads. Earlier this year, Cablevision filed lawsuits against Verizon over alleged misleading claims about the companies' Wi-Fi services and the carrier's FiOS in ads. The two companies have feuded over advertising claims in the past, with the former suing the latter in 2011 over a series of ads that questioned Cablevision's Internet service speed. Terms of the settlements were not disclosed.

Verizon Unveils New Software-Defined WAN Service Using Cisco's IWAN Technology

Verizon has unveiled its new software-defined WAN service using Cisco's Intelligent WAN, or IWAN, technology. With IWAN as the foundation and Verizon's expertise in network management, the solution will enable enterprises to improve the application experience for their employees and customers. Verizon and Cisco will both market and sell the managed solution to their respective enterprise customer bases in the US beginning in September. The companies plan to roll out the solution in EMEA by the end of the year. The new solution will be supported by Verizon's IT consulting group which help enterprises manage their transition to SD-based networking.

Verizon and Cognizant have announced an alliance to enhance the delivery of technology-based solutions to enterprise clients. Together the companies will work with organizations to define, design, deploy and manage new technology solutions that advance the digital business models of their customers. Cognizant and Verizon will provide enterprise clients with a set of high performance, reliable solutions focused on digital transformation, integration and business process support, technical expertise, networking and other solutions. As part of this alliance, joint customers will be able to experience large-scale technology demonstrations at Verizon's Innovation Centers in San Francisco and Waltham, Mass. that will be powered by a new test-bed lab the companies are building. The lab and its technology will enable clients to visualize enterprise-scale projects versus simply viewing and testing point technology offerings. The companies will leverage their extensive experience in helping clients build the digital infrastructure that integrates social, mobile, analytics, cloud and sensor technologies used to power the Internet of Things.
