AVX Corporation Releases the Highest Q 01005 MLCC Available on Market for UHF Band Applications

AVX Corporation has introduced the Q 01005 MLCC available on market for ultra high frequency (UHF) band applications (300MHz–3GHz). The first part number of the new CU Series ultralow ESR C0G (NP0) MLCCs, the CU10 01005 MLCC, exhibits typical Q values of 290 at 1GHz for a 4pF capacitance, which makes it ideal for reducing power consumption and improving battery efficiency in the high frequency power amplifier circuits within multifunctional and multiband RF communication devices, including: smartphones, tablets, handheld scanners, camera sensor modules, and telecommunications equipment. The new CU Series ultralow ESR MLCCs feature low-resistance internal copper electrodes and interior structures that have been carefully optimized to reduce resistance. The series also exhibits highly accurate and evenly distributed capacitances spanning 0.5pF to 22pF, which, combined with the series' outstanding ESR, effectively mitigates impedance mismatching between circuits and subsequently preserves both power and battery life. The 01005 CU10 ultralow ESR MLCCs are available in 16V ratings and with capacitance values spanning 0.5pF to 22pF. Intended for use in temperatures spanning -55°C to +125°C, CU Series MLCCs are lead-free compatible and RoHS compliant, and are supplied with plated Ni/Sn terminations on both 4mm and 8mm 7" reels. Lead time for the CU10 is 12 weeks, and the second part number of the series, the CU01 0201 MLCC, is expected to be introduced to the market later this year.

AVX Introduces High Performance Single Tine IDC Contacts for Harsh Environment Applications

AVX Corp. has introduced a single contact version of its proven 9176 Series insulation displacement connectors (IDCs), which are widely recognized for providing highly reliable, gas-tight wire-to-board connections in a range of harsh environment applications. Backward compatible with existing 9176 Series connectors with regard to contact and footprint, the new 9176-65X single tine IDC contacts exhibit the same robust, reliable performance the series is known for while reducing cost by 25%, width by 50% (2.5mm vs. 5.0mm), and height by 10% (5.05mm vs. 5.6mm), the latter of which is especially valuable for SSL applications, as it helps prevent shadowing. Designed to satisfy the demanding cost versus performance objectives for customers in the SSL, smart grid, smart meter, machine control, commercial building control, industrial control, medical, and transportation markets, the new 9176-65X Series contacts also feature a multipurpose cap that keeps the contacts in position prior to automatic placement and then acts as an assembly tool for terminating wires, effectively removing the costs associated with hand soldering, crimping, and two-piece connectors.
