Aviva plc provides long-term insurance and savings, general and health insurance, and fund management products and services worldwide. The company offers insurance and savings products, including pensions products, such as personal and group pensions, stakeholder pensions, and income drawdown; annuities; protection products comprising term assurance, mortgage life insurance, flexible whole life, and critical illness cover; bonds and savings consisting of single premium investment bonds and regular premium savings plans; and investment products, including unit trusts, individual savings accounts, and open ended investment companies, as well as equity release services. It also provides general and health insurance products, including personal lines of insurance products comprising motor, household, travel, and creditor insurance; commercial lines of insurance products consisting of fleet, liability, and commercial property insurance; health insurance products, including private health, income protection, and personal accident products, as well as various corporate healthcare insurance products; and insurance for corporate and specialty risks. In addition, the company offers fund management products and services to its long-term insurance and savings, and general insurance operations, as well as to third party investors. It sells its products through a range of distribution channels, including direct sales force, intermediaries, corporate partnerships, bancassurance, and joint ventures, as well as through the telephone and Internet. The company was formerly known as CGNU plc and changed its name to Aviva plc in July 2002. Aviva plc was incorporated in 1990 and is headquartered in London, the United Kingdom.

Aviva plc Appoints Sarah Ward as Group HR Director

Aviva plc announced the appointment of Sarah Ward as Group HR Director reporting to Mark Wilson, Aviva's Group Chief Executive Officer. Sarah will be replacing Aviva's current Group HR Director, Christine Deputy, who has decided to return to the US for family reasons. Sarah was previously Global Head of HR for a division at Thomson Reuters Corporation. She will be responsible for the continuation of Aviva's HR strategic plan and the leadership of the HR and Communications teams at Aviva.

Aviva to Cut 1,500 Jobs by the End of 2017

Aviva is to cut 1,500 jobs as part of its plans to make £225 million of annual savings from the deal by the end of 2017.

Aviva plc Concludes Bancassurance Agreement with DBS Bank Ltd at the End of 2015

Aviva plc announced that its bancassurance agreement with DBS Bank Ltd. will conclude at the end of 2015. Following the conclusion of the DBS agreement, Aviva will retain the existing book of business, associated profits, and customer rights and relationships which were purchased in the original transaction with DBS in 2001. In the 12 months ending December 31, 2014, products sold through DBS represented approximately 20% of Aviva Singapore's value of new business ('VNB'). The conclusion of the agreement is not material at group level representing less than 3% of Aviva's total VNB in 2014. The anticipated acquisition of Friends Life Group adds Friends Provident International to Aviva's Asian portfolio of companies, expanding its capabilities in the affluent and wealth management segments in Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai.
