D-Wave Systems Uses ANSYS Engineering Simulation to Help Design Next Generation Quantum Computers

D-Wave Systems is designing and building the most advanced quantum computers with help from engineering simulation solutions from ANSYS. This next generation of supercomputers uses quantum mechanics to massively accelerate computation and has the potential to solve some of the most complex computing problems facing organizations. Conventional computer technology stores information as 0s and 1s, but a quantum computer uses qubits, which can be a 1 or a 0 or both at the same time. This enables quantum computers to consider and manipulate all combinations of bits simultaneously, making quantum computation powerful and extremely fast. Quantum computing places extreme demands on the operating environment. The system must be isolated from external electromagnetic fields and the temperature must be maintained near absolute zero. Multiphysics simulation is a powerful tool to accurately predict the kinds of environments that can be engineered in the real world. D-Wave is using ANSYS multiphysics solutions ranging from electromagnetic solutions for simulating how integrated circuits function and interact at extremely low temperatures, to structural and computational fluid dynamics to simulate the systems used to cool the quantum processor.

ANSYS, Inc. and EUROPRACTICE Sign Agreement for Electronics Simulation Solutions

ANSYS, Inc. signed a new agreement with EUROPRACTICE to provide electronics simulation solutions to university students throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Under the agreement, such electronics solutions as ANSYS HFSS and ANSYS RedHawk will be available to EUROPRACTICE members, representing more than 500 universities in 42 counties. As part of the agreement, member universities can quickly download ANSYS solutions at a discounted price.

ClariPhy Engages ANSYS Power Software To Develop 100- To 400-Gigabit Semiconductor Solutions

ClariPhy has selected ANSYS integrated circuit power and reliability sign-off solutions to deliver fast, reliable and cost-efficient optical transport semiconductor solutions. With the exponential increase in mobile communications driven by streaming video and social media applications, carriers worldwide are unable to keep pace with Internet growth. To solve that challenge, carriers are installing 400G networks, which places new demands on network designers trying to ensure signal integrity. ClariPhy is leveraging ANSYS® RedHawk™ to ensure delivery of the most reliable optical transport semiconductor solutions. The ability to perform chip-package co-analysis (CPA) and thermal-aware electromigration (EM) verification, as well as scalable simulation capacity and performance with distributed machine processing (DMP) gave ClariPhy the confidence in the robustness of its complex SoC design.
