Analog Devices, Inc. announced new releases of its RF design tools, which now provide support for Hittite Microwave Corporation products from ADI. The ADIsimRF™ design tool enables engineers to model RF and microwave signal chains using devices from across ADI’s RF IC portfolio. ADIsimRF Version 1.9 adds 190 mixers, amplifiers, switches and attenuators, which are primarily from the Hittite portfolio. The ADIsimPLL™ design tool is a comprehensive and easy-to-use PLL (phased-locked loop) synthesizer design and simulation tool. ADIsimPLL Version 4 has been upgraded to include device models for the HMC703 and HMC704 PLLs and the HMC830, HMC832, ADF4355, ADF4355-2 and ADF5355 integrated PLLs and VCOs (voltage-controlled oscillators).

Analog Devices, Inc. Introduces Two Analog Front-End Devices with Integrated 24-Bit Sigma-Delta Converter Cores to Deliver the Combination of Low-Power, Low-Noise and Signal Chain Integration

Analog Devices, Inc. has introduced two analog front-end (AFE) devices with integrated 24-bit sigma-delta converter cores that deliver the combination of low-power, low-noise and signal chain integration. The AD7124-4 and AD7124-8 AFEs connect directly to all standard industrial signal sources and sensor inputs, while reducing power requirements by 40% over comparable devices. The best-in-class power performance suits the new AFEs for an array of industrial and instrumentation applications including low power portable equipment. The high degree of integration of the AD7124-4 (four differential and seven pseudo-differential inputs) and the AD7124-8 AFEs (eight differential and 15 pseudo-differential inputs) simplifies design architecture and shortens the design cycle by providing the flexibility to support easily multiple types of sensor inputs, including resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples, voltage/current inputs and current bridges. Enabling the high system channel density of any comparable products, the new AFEs allow designers to reduce PCB footprint or apply the space savings to expand monitoring and connectivity functions within the same board area. The AD7124-4 and AD7124-8 incorporate a fully integrated signal chain with a 24-bit sigma-delta A/D converter, programmable gain amplifier (PGA), precision reference, reference buffers, current sources, temperature sensor and excitation sources on a single chip. Integrated diagnostic features support SIL compatibility and reduce the need for discrete diagnostic components saving valuable PCB area. The AD7124-4 and AD7124-8 offer three user-selectable power modes that allow system designers to optimize throughput rate versus required noise performance. In the lowest power mode (255 µA) the converter delivers 21.7 noise free bits at low sampling rates. The user-selectable power modes allow designers of programmable-logic controllers, process controllers, transmission systems and other industrial and instrumentation equipment to develop a single platform by precisely matching power/performance requirements for each use case.

Analog Devices, Inc. Introduces HMC1127 and the HMC1126 MMIC Distributed Power Amplifiers

Analog Devices, Inc. introduced the HMC1127 and the HMC1126 MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) distributed power amplifiers. Covering the frequency range of 2-50 GHz, these new power amplifier die simplify system design and improve performance by eliminating the need for RF switches between frequency bands. Each amplifier incorporates I/Os that are internally matched to 50 Ohms, facilitating easy integration into multi-chip modules. All data is taken with the chips connected via two 0.02-mm (1 mil) wire bonds measuring 0.31-mm (12 mils) in length. Based on a GaAs (gallium-arsenide) pHEMT (pseudomorphic high-electron mobility transistor) design, the HMC1126 and HMC1127 are ideal for instrumentation, microwave radio and VSAT antennas, aerospace and defense systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and fiber optic applications.
