Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 27, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Third Quarter of 2015

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. reported consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 27, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net revenue of $942 million against $1,441 million a year ago. Operating loss was $137 million against operating income of $63 million a year ago. Loss before income taxes was $180 million against $32 million a year ago. Net loss was $181 million or $0.23 per basic and diluted share against $36 million or $0.05 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was $58 million against $28 million a year ago. Purchases of property, plant and equipment was $17 million against $23 million a year ago. Adjusted LBITDA was $42 million against adjusted EBITDA of $13 million a year ago. Non-GAAP operating loss was $87 million, compared to non-GAAP operating loss of $30 million in first quarter of 2015, primarily due to lower revenue and gross margin, driven by lower sales to OEMs due to a weak consumer PC market. To derive non-GAAP operating loss for second quarter of 2015, the company excluded the impact of the technology node transition charge and stock- based compensation. Non-GAAP net loss was $131 million. To derive non-GAAP net loss for the second quarter of 2015, the company excluded the impact of the technology node transition charge and stock-based compensation. Non-GAAP loss per share was $0.17 against earnings per share of $0.05 per share a year ago. Revenue of $942 million, down 8% sequentially and 35% year-over-year. The sequential decrease was primarily due to weaker than expected consumer PC demand impacting the Company's Original Equipment Manufacturer APU sales. The year-over-year decline was primarily due to decreased sales across client and graphics product lines. For the six months, the company reported net revenue of $1,972 million against $2,838 million a year ago. Operating loss was $274 million against operating income of $112 million a year ago. Loss before income taxes was $357 million against $50 million a year ago. Net loss was $361 million or $0.46 per basic and diluted share against $56 million or $0.07 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was $231 million against $232 million a year ago. Purchases of property, plant and equipment was $39 million against $44 million a year ago. Adjusted LBITDA was $29 million against adjusted EBITDA of $276 million a year ago. For the third quarter of 2015, the company expects revenue to increase 6% sequentially, plus or minus 3%. Non-GAAP gross margin to be approximately 29%. Non-GAAP operating expenses to be approximately $340 million. Interest expense, taxes and other to be approximately $45 million. Inventory to be approximately $850 million, in support of second half product ramps and semi-custom sales to support the holiday season. Cash and cash equivalents to be approximately $700 million, including third quarter debt interest payments of approximately $70 million.
