The Allstate Corporation, through its subsidiaries, engages in the property-liability insurance and life insurance businesses in the United States and Canada. The company’s Allstate Protection segment sells private passenger auto and homeowners insurance products under the Allstate, Encompass, Esurance brand names. It also provides specialty auto products, including motorcycle, trailer, motor home, and off-road vehicle insurance policies; other personal lines products comprising renter, condominium, landlord, boat, umbrella, and manufactured home insurance policies; roadside assistance products; and commercial products for small business owners, as well as insurance agency services. In addition, this segment sells retirement and investment products, including mutual funds, fixed and variable annuities, disability insurance, and long-term care insurance products. Further, it sells its products through contact centers and Internet. The company’s Allstate Financial segment offers traditional and variable life insurance; voluntary accident and health insurance products; deferred and immediate fixed annuities; and funding agreements backing medium-term notes. This segment markets its products through its agencies and financial specialists, and workplace enrolling independent agents. The Allstate Corporation was founded in 1931 and is headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois.

Answer Financial Announces Management Changes

Answer Financial added a new member to its executive team. Curt Kibler joins Answer as Chief Information Officer and will oversee the company's e-Business department, comprised of Development, Systems Operations, Business Intelligence and Reporting, Carrier Profitability, Project Management and Quality Assurance. Kibler will be responsible for enhancing existing technology and delivering new solutions for insurance consumers. Prior to joining Answer, Kibler led the transformation of technology for the Encompass Insurance Company, led the technology implementation for North Light Specialty Insurance Company, a startup insurance carrier, and led a variety of other technology organizations for the Allstate. Kibler began his career with Accenture, where he helped Fortune 500, middle market, and startup clients win in the marketplace through technology, management, and strategy consulting services. Dan Bryce, who has been the Chief Information Officer since 2000, will be retiring later in 2015.

The Allstate Corporation reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of USD 8,982 million compared to USD 8,860 million a year ago. Net investment income was USD 789 million compared to USD 898 million a year ago. Income from operations before income tax expense was USD 526 million compared to USD 955 million a year ago. Net income was USD 355 million compared to USD 645 million a year ago. Net income available to common shareholders was USD 326 million compared to USD 614 million a year ago. Diluted net income available to common shareholders per share was USD 0.79 compared to USD 1.39 a year ago. For the six months, the company reported revenues of USD 17,934 million compared to USD 17,544 million a year ago. Income from operations before income tax expense was USD 1,607 million compared to USD 1,804 million a year ago. Net income was USD 1,032 million compared to USD 1,245 million a year ago. Net income available to common shareholders was USD 974 million compared to USD 1,201 million a year ago. Diluted net income available to common shareholders per share was USD 2.33 compared to USD 2.69 a year ago. The Allstate Corporation Provides Earnings Guidance for the Month of June and Second Quarter of 2015

The Allstate Corporation announced estimated catastrophe losses for the month of June 2015 of $346 million, pre-tax ($225 million after-tax). Catastrophe losses occurring in June comprised 19 events at an estimated cost of $310 million, pre-tax, plus increased reserve re-estimates of prior reported catastrophe losses. The increased reserve re-estimates in the month of June primarily relate to re-estimates of April and May 2015 events. The company previously announced $451 million, pre-tax ($293 million after-tax), in estimated catastrophe losses for the months of April and May 2015, bringing estimated catastrophe losses for second quarter 2015 to $797 million, pre-tax ($518 million after-tax). Catastrophe losses can be higher in the second quarter of the year due to the number of wind and hail events.
