The company offers various deposit products, including deposits/savings accounts, working capital/current accounts, investment facilities/term deposits, repos, and swaps; loans comprising mortgage loans, consumer loans, corporate loans, housing loans, and letters of guarantees; and debit and credit cards, as well as working capital facilities and loans for vessels acquisition and repair. It also provides leasing and factoring services; offers asset management and insurance services; offers stock exchange, advisory, and brokerage services relating to capital markets, as well as investment banking facilities; and deals in interbank market activities. In addition, the company offers mutual funds, shares, derivatives, government securities, and structured notes; and standing orders, MiFID, cash management, automated cash transaction services, payment services, custody services, and international trade services, as well as mobile, Web, and phone banking services. Further, it engages in real estate management and hotel businesses. The company was formerly known as Alpha Credit Bank and changed its name to Alpha Bank A.E. in April 2000. Alpha Bank A.E. was founded in 1879 and is headquartered in Athens, Greece.

Alpha Bank A.E. announced that, as per the Minister of Finance Decision No 0000278 General Directorate of Economic Policy Outgoing Correspondence/Financial Policy 312 published in the Government Gazette 137/Issue on Special Position Employees and Administrative Bodies of the Public Sector and the Broader Public Sector Entities/17.3.2015, Ms. Marica S. Ioannou -Frangakis has been appointed representative of the Greek State at the Board of Directors of Alpha Bank in replacement of Mr. Sarantis-Evangelos G. Lolos, in accordance with Law 3723/2008, as in force.
