Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ties Up with Honeywell for Smart Grid Solutions

Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) has successfully implemented the first ever automated demand response power distribution project in its area of operation in association with Honeywell. With this strategic partnership, TPDDL will be able to link more than 160 buildings, and call for temporary reductions in energy use when demand runs the risk to outpace supply in grid stress conditions. The project will give TPDDL the ability to reduce energy supply by approximately 11.5 megawatts during peak demand. TPDDL uses Honeywell's Software as a Service (SaaS) and smart meters to communicate with the building systems at the participating sites; and automatically applying load-shed measures when the grid is overburdened. By participating, commercial and industrial customers can reduce their energy use and costs without compromising operations. The collective decrease in consumption gives the grid operator more space to balance supply and demand, and help avoid power disruptions.

Honeywell Announces Next Generation of Smart Building Technology, Command and Control Suite

Honeywell announced the next generation of smart building technology, Command and Control Suite, which turns complex facility data into recommendations and easy-to-implement changes that help boost business outcomes -- lowering costs, minimizing risk and reducing downtime. By combining intelligent automation, advanced analytics and visualization with the simplified user experience of home and mobile electronics, Command and Control Suite links building automation and the enterprise. It can provide a holistic view of a connected building's video feeds, access control and fire alarms, for example, and pull in relevant information from human resource applications. Integrating data from these disparate systems could help security personnel track occupants and make sure they exit the facility in the event of an evacuation, improving employee safety. Guided by experts in the Honeywell Design Studio, all components of the Command and Control Suite were built with the intuitive, consumer-friendly simplicity of tablets and smartphones, making the technology accessible to both a facility manager and chief operating officer. Because virtually anyone can understand and act on the insights the command suite provides, companies can improve business continuity and efficiency, and get a higher return on investment. A refined user experience helps reduce operator training and related expenses as well.
