Airbus Group engages in the manufacture and sale of commercial aircraft, civil and military helicopters, commercial space launch vehicles, missiles, military aircraft, satellites, defense systems, and defense electronics; and rendering of related services worldwide. The company operates in three segments: Airbus, Airbus Helicopters, and Airbus Defence and Space. The Airbus segment is involved in the development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of commercial jet aircraft of approximately 100 seats; and regional turboprop aircraft and aircraft components, as well as provides aircraft conversion and related services. The Airbus Helicopters engages in the development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of civil and military helicopters; and provision of helicopter related services. The Airbus Defence and Space segment is involved in the development, manufacturing, marketing, and sale of military transport aircraft and special mission aircraft and related services; missiles systems, military combat aircraft and training aircraft; and satellites, orbital infrastructures, and launchers. This segment also provides defense electronics and global security market solutions, such as integrated systems for global border security and secure communications solutions and logistics; training, testing, engineering and other related services; and space related services. The company was formerly known as European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company EADS N.V. and changed its name to Airbus Group in January 2014. Airbus Group was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Leiden, the Netherlands.

Avianca Signs Purchase Agreement for 100 A320neo Family Aircraft with Airbus Group

Airbus Group has announced that Avianca S.A., an airline company, has signed a purchase agreement for 100 A320neo Family aircraft. The agreement, which includes A319neo, A320neo and A321neo aircraft, will allow Avianca to maintain one of the youngest fleets in the region as the airline aims to replace airplanes currently operating from their Bogota, Lima and San Salvador hubs. The newest member of the A320 Family, the A320neo, incorporates many innovations including latest generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices, which together deliver more than 15% in fuel savings from day one and 20% by 2020.

United Technologies Reportedly In Talks For Sale Of Sikorsky

United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX) is in talks for the sale of Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, according to people familiar with the matter. Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT), Airbus Group N.V. (ENXTPA:AIR) and The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) are among the companies exploring bids for Sikorsky or, alternatively, for a minority stake, some of the people added. Bids are due later in May 2015.

Airbus Group Appoints Frederic Sutter as its Digitalisation Programme Director with Immediate Effect

Airbus Group has appointed Frederic Sutter, as its Digitalisation Programme Director with immediate effect. In this newly created post, he will report directly to Chief Technical Officer Jean Botti, who is leading the Digitalisation initiative for the Group. Sutter joined the Group in 2012 as Vice President with responsibility to coordinate strategic projects and to develop recommendations for aerospace market disruptions. Previously, he worked for 15 years at Alcatel-Lucent in various sales, strategy and services leadership positions and where he lastly served as global manager for the defence market.
