AGRANA Beteiligungs-Aktiengesellschaft operates as a processor of agricultural raw materials worldwide. The company operates in three segments: Sugar, Starch, and Fruit. The Sugar segment processes sugar beet; refines raw sugar; and offers a range of sugar and sugar specialty products, as well as produces fertilizers and feedstuffs for animals. This segment markets its products to the confectionary, beverage, and fermentation industries, as well as to food retailers and other food-based sectors. It supplies sugar products to industrial and end customers under the Wiener Zucker brand in Austria and Koronás Cukor brand in Hungary. The Starch segment processes and refines agricultural raw materials, such as corn, wheat, and potatoes into starch products for the food and semi-luxury food, paper and paper processing, textile, mineral oil, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, as well as construction chemistry sector. This segment also produces alcohols/bioethanol. The Fruit segment produces and sells fruit preparations and fruit juice concentrates to dairy industry, bakery goods sector, ice-cream manufacturers, and soft drink producers. This segment also manufactures not-from-concentrate juices, fruit wines, natural flavors, beverage bases, purees, etc. The company was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. AGRANA Beteiligungs-Aktiengesellschaft is a subsidiary of Z&S Zucker und Stärke Holding AG.

Agrana Beteiligungs AG reported group earnings results for the six months ended August 31, 2015. For the period, the company reported operating profit (EBIT) of EUR 68.7 million against EUR 87.0 million a year ago. Group revenue was EUR 1,263.5 million, a decrease of 1.7% from one year earlier. In view of the Groups solid first-half EBIT and the improved margin forecast in the ethanol business, the company is upgrading its guidance for EBIT in the 2016 fiscal year from 'significantly' to 'moderately' below the prior year.

AGRANA Reports Group Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended May 31, 2015; Reaffirms Group Earnings Guidance for Fiscal 2016

AGRANA reported group earnings results for the first quarter ended May 31, 2015. Revenue was EUR 612.7 million against EUR 647.2 million last year. EBITDA was EUR 43.2 million against EUR 63.5 million last year. Operating profit (EBIT) was EUR 31.6 million against EUR 52.9 million last year. Profit for the period   was EUR 21.6 million against EUR 39.2 million last year. Investment on purchases of property, plant and equipment and intangible assets, excluding goodwill was EUR 17.9 million against EUR 14.9 million last year. The company posted reductions in revenue and EBIT in the opening quarter of the 2015|16 financial year, as a result of lower market prices. Earnings per share attributable to AGRANA shareholders were EUR 1.45 against EUR 2.66 last year. Net debt stood at EUR 410.3 million, which for seasonal reasons was up significantly by EUR 80.0 million from fiscal 2015 year-end level. In view of the persistent downward pressure on prices of sugar and saccharification products, AGRANA maintains its forecast of a significant decrease in EBIT for the full year of fiscal 2016. AGRANA continues to expect group revenue to be steady for fiscal 2016. The budgeted investment for the year, at approximately EUR 93 million, is slightly above depreciation.
