African Copper PLC Announces Board Changes

African Copper Plc announced the appointment of Roy Corrans, currently a Non-executive Director of African Copper, as Non-executive Chairman of the company in succession to David Rodier who is retiring from the Board with effect from 12 January 2015. The company also announced the appointment of Mr. Boikobo Paya as an additional Non-executive Director with immediate effect. Boikobo Paya is currently Head of Research at the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST). He is also a Non-Executive Director of Debswana, Chairman of Diamond Trading Company Botswana (both joint ventures between De Beers and the Botswanan Government), a Non-Executive Director of De Beers and a Director of BBKR Productions (Pty) Ltd. In addition, Mr. Paya is a member of the administrative boards of DB Investments SA, Debswana Investments SA and De Beers SA.

African Copper PLC reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the six months ended September 30, 2014. For the period, the company reported revenue from continuing operations was USD 30,830,000 against USD 29,742,000 a year ago. Operating loss was USD 489,000 compared to USD 22,793,000 a year ago. Loss before tax was USD 8,833,000 million compared to USD 29,134,000 a year ago. Loss for the period from continuing operations attributable to equity shareholders of the parent company was USD 8,833,000 or USD 0.01 per basic and diluted share compared to USD 29,134,000 or USD 0.03 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Cash flow from operating activities was USD 4,589,000 compared to USD 4,075,000 a year ago. Payments to acquire property, plant and equipment were USD 7,073,000 compared to USD 7,224,000 a year ago.
