Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC is a closed-ended equity mutual fund launched and managed by Aberdeen Fund Managers Limited . It is co-managed by Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Limited. The fund invests in public equity markets of Asia and Australasia, excluding Japan. It seeks to invest in stocks of companies operating across diversified sectors. The fund primarily invests in value stocks of small-cap companies with market capitalizations of US$ 1 billion or less. It employs fundamental analysis with a bottom-up stock picking approach, focusing on such factors as management, business focus, balance sheet, corporate governance, financial ratios, company visits, and peer group business prospects to create its portfolios. The fund benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the MSCI AC Asia Pacific ex Japan Index and the MSCI AC Asia Pacific ex Japan Small Cap Index. Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC reported unaudited earnings results for the six months ended January 31, 2015. For the period, net return on ordinary activities before finance costs and taxation was GBP 23.590 million against negative net return on ordinary activities before finance costs and taxation of GBP 60.030 million a year ago. Net return on ordinary activities before taxation was GBP 22.950 million against negative net return on ordinary activities before taxation of GBP 60.751 million a year ago. Return on ordinary activities after taxation was GBP 22.758 million or 54.91 pence per diluted share against negative return on ordinary activities after taxation of GBP 60.949 million or 144.63 pence per diluted share a year ago. Net cash inflow from operating activities was GBP 2.166 million against GBP 5.156 million a year ago. The company announced final dividend 10.00 pence per share for 2014 against 10.00 pence paid a year ago. The company also announced special dividend for 2014 of 3.00 pence against 3.00 pence paid a year ago.

Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC announced that its shareholders at the Annual General Meeting to be held on December 2, 2014 will consider and approve to amend Articles of Association by inserting the definition immediately after the definition of "address", "AIFM Rules" -means Directive 2011/61/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2011 on Alternative Investment Fund Managers, as supplemented by Commission Delegated Regulations (EU) No. 231/2013 of 19 December 2012 and the rules issued by the FCA and ESMA from time to time (including any amendments or updates made in relation thereto) as implemented in the UK by the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Regulations 2013 (as amended); by inserting the following new articles immediately after article 144: Compliance with AIFM Rules Calculation of Net Asset Value 145. Calculation of Net Asset Value. The Board shall ensure that the net asset value per share is calculated at least annually and disclosed to shareholders from time to time in such manner as may be determined by the Board. The net asset value per share shall be calculated in accordance with prevailing accounting standards. Discharge of Liability of Depositary. The Board, at its discretion, may allow a depositary appointed by the Company to discharge itself of liability for loss of the company's assets provided that all other conditions for such discharge set out in the AIFM Rules have been met.
