THine Electronics Inc. announced its collaboration with Novatek Microelectronics Corp. in high-definition camera solution for various applications including drive recorder markets by licensing its V-by-One®HS technology. THine, collaborating with Novatek, delivers values of smarter interface performance and less system costs. V-by-One®HS technology has been developed by THine to make internal display interfaces smarter and accepted as de facto standard for 4K televisions and many displays with high definition. The present wide applications, such as consumer electronics, in-vehicle infotainment, surveillance cameras, robotics, document processing, and amusement, enjoy its value of fewer cables and costs with high-speed performance. Drive recorders also require avoiding the increase of cables between cameras and processors while markets demand higher-definition images. Under such situation, THine has licensed its V-by-One®HS technology to Novatek with valuable camera SoC and market shares to solve these problems. Camera systems can adopt the combination of THine’s V-by-One®HS products at camera sensors and Novatek’s application processors with THine’s V-by-One®HS receiver IPs, to reduce the number of cables drastically, for instance, up to just one pair for full-HD pictures with using brand-new THCV231. This combination enables to reduce total costs of the camera systems and parts counts. THine Starts Mass Production of New Interface Technology, I/OSpreader, that Can Reduce 16 Cables for Digital Signal Transmission to Just One

THine Electronics Inc. announced starting of mass production of its new interface technology, I/OSpreader, reducing 16 cables for transmitting digital data to just one within electronics equipment. This new interface can transmit digital data at a long distance of 100 meters. I/OSpreader technology can be applied in various applications such as consumer electronics, industrial equipments, mobile devices, and automotive equipments, simplifying internal cable alignments, reducing required internal space for cables, designing period, and costs for cables and connectors. THine has started its mass production of its new products, THCS131 and THCS132 with I/OSpreader technology. THine has developed I/OSpreader technology as a new interface with quite unique features that can never been seen, using its accumulated highspeed interface technology and knowhow. I/OSpreader technology converts parallel data with 16 cables to serial data with just a cable while, for example, electronic devices generally have each cable for each signal of data such as ON/OFF signals from switches, LED ON/OFF signals, controlling signals to motors, or those to speakers. In addition, I/OSpreader technology allows to transmit data with device address up to 16 devices simultaneously. I/OSpreader technology is suitable for equipments that have constraints in internal space for cables with switches, LEDs, motors, and speakers as well as equipments with hinges or structures of the joint in transmitting data between print circuit boards. For instance, I/OSpreader technology is expected to be applied to various equipments such as ticket vending machines, automated teller machine, point of sales machines, multifunction printers, multifunction phones, industrial machine tools, pumps, robotics, endoscopes, amusement equipments, speakers, and consumer electronics. Features of THCS131/132: No outside clock required because of input parallel data to registers from internal clocks. Sampling frequency: 50Hz for unidirectional communication and 30Hz for bidirectional communication. Lineups with THCS131 packaged in DIP20, supporting 8 bit signals.

Cypress and THine Introduce New USB 3.0 Camera Reference Design Kit

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. and THine Electronics Inc. introduced the industry's fast USB 3.0 camera reference design kit with 13-megapixel resolution at 21 frames per second. The new Ascella design kit is based on Cypress's EZ-USB® CX3™ USB 3.0 camera controller and THine's THP7312 image signal processor (ISP). With optimized firmware, a software development kit, reference circuit schematics and related materials, the kit accelerates customers' time-to-market without expensive initial costs for developing camera firmware. The kit delivers high-resolution performance and advanced functions such as auto-focus and live video streaming for a broad range of consumer, industrial, medical, educational and automotive applications. The Ascella USB 3.0 Camera Reference Design Kit is available through e-con Systems, a product design services company specializing in advanced camera solutions. Cypress's CX3 adds SuperSpeed USB connectivity to any image sensor that is compliant with the MIPI Camera Serial Interface 2 (CSI-2) standard, and THine's THP7312 ISP supports high-resolution performance up to 16 megapixels with throughput and low power consumption. The reference design kit by Cypress and THine enables plug-and-play operation and includes firmware optimized for all USB camera functions, significantly shortening development time and reducing engineering costs. Developers can use this smart reference design kit as a production-ready final product and can also utilize it as a development tool for high-resolution camera systems.
