Panasonic Announces Updates to the Toughbook 31

Panasonic announced updates to the Toughbook 31. The updated Toughbook 31 offers up to 18 hours of standard battery life – 27 hours with an optional second battery – as well as improved connectivity and significant performance boosts over the previous model. With its fully sealed design that delivers durability to meet MIL-STD-810G and IP65 specifications, including a six-foot drop rating2, the Toughbook 31 solidifies its position as the gold standard for emergency service professionals, utility workers and others who need to stay connected and productive even in the most extreme environments. Powered by the new Intel Core i5-5300U vPro processor, (3 MB cache, 2.3 GHz up to 2.9 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology) the updated Toughbook 31 delivers desktop-class performance alongside its world-class reliability. Other improvements include enhanced graphics with the Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics processor – important for geographic information system (GIS) and military logistics applications. With features including a shock-mounted, flex-connect quick-release hard drive; sunlight-viewable touchscreen; and a full magnesium alloy case with handle, the Toughbook 31 is the undisputed leader in the fully rugged laptop category. The device has been certified by an independent third party testing lab to meet nineteen MIL-STD-810G tests, including shock, drop, vibration, extreme temperature and high altitude. The Toughbook 31 offers protection from drops of up to six feet2 and has achieved an IP65 rating for protection from water and dust. Panasonic Toughbook 31: Key Improvements: Advanced Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro Update 64-bit or Windows 7 Professional (available through downgrade rights from Windows 8.1 Pro) - Next-Generation Processor: 5th Generation Intel Core i5-5300U vPro Processor (3MB cache, 2.3 GHz up to 2.9GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology) - Improved Battery Life: Up to 18 hours of continuous use depending on usage conditions (up to 27 hours with optional second battery) - Enhanced Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5500 - Expanded Connectivity: Now supports Wi-Fi ac in addition to older networks with Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 (a/b/g/n/ac); Wi-Fi ac offers faster speeds and longer ranges than previous standards. The Toughbook 31 maintains consistent vehicle docking capabilities with a platform footprint virtually identical to past products. This allows customers to upgrade Toughbook computers without replacing vehicle docks, significantly lowering the total cost of ownership. The Panasonic Toughbook 31 is available this February from authorized Panasonic resellers starting around $3,699. The Toughbook 31 includes a standard three-year limited warranty.

Panasonic Corp. to Release Robot Vacuum in March 2015

Panasonic Corp. announced it will start selling a robot vacuum cleaner in Japan on March 20, 2015. The Rulo MC-RS1 is expected to retail at around JPY 108,000. It will be the first time for Panasonic to enter the robot vacuum market, where demand is expected to grow due to Japan's aging society and more women entering the workplace. The Rulo has a distinctive triangular shape, meaning it can clean the corners of rooms as well, an advantage it has over existing circular and rectangular products. Panasonic believes the size of the robot vacuum market will double from the present to about one million units a year by fiscal 2018. The company is targeting sales of 60,000 units in fiscal 2015, or 10% of the market. Equipped with highly sensitive sensors, the Rulo can detect and remove particles as small as 20 microns in size, such as pollen and mites. The product will come in either black or white.

Panasonic Corporation Brings its Technical Knowledge to the Built-In Range

Panasonic Corporation brought its technical knowledge to the built-in range. Supporting the Japanese art of fine cooking, which focuses on fresh products and preservation of the nutrients, are Panasonic's induction hobs. Thanks to the Panasonic's unique infrared temperature sensor technology, the 60 or 90 cm wide hobs are ideal for gentle cooking at precise temperatures. The hobs can be flush-mounted or have a bevelled edge installation. Panasonic's ovens are 60cm in both width and height; come with various cooking, baking, grilling, defrosting and warming settings; and are easy to clean with their pyrolytic cleaning or steam cleaning functions. A blue LED display shows which setting has been chosen, as well as the temperature which is selected via the rotary knob and can be quickly adjusted via the plus/minus function. The 3-in-1 compact oven, with a 45cm install height, is an attention-grabbing technological highlight among the ovens. It combines the full functions of an oven, microwave and complete steam cooker in one appliance. A 15cm tall warming drawer with defrost stage for deep-frozen foods in addition to the warming function can be installed to fit in neatly alongside any previously installed 60cm ovens. The range of hobs and ovens is rounded off by island extractor hoods in various widths and depths for exhaustion or recirculation of the air and keep noise to a minimum. The hoods have a stainless steel body, glass front panel and blue LED function indicator which harmonize perfectly with the timeless furnishing style of modern kitchens. Dishwashers of energy efficiency class A+++ stand out through their different water consumption rates; their ECO programmes help to save energy and water; and their noise level of 44 and 45 dB is no higher than that of quiet music or gentle rain outside. The refrigerators for built-in installation have different capacities of 200, 232 and 284 litres, with freezer compartment capacities of 17, 49 and 61 litres. The familiar side-by-side refrigerators already established in the market complement the range. Kitchen retailers will find that the new built-in kitchen appliances from Panasonic have a lot to offer.
