OMRON Corporation manufactures and sells automation components, equipment, and systems worldwide. Its Industrial Automation Business segment offers control equipment for factory automation, including vision and fiber sensors, temperature controllers, programmable logic controllers, inverters, servomotors, and servo drivers; safety laser scanners; air cleaning units, ionizers, and air thermal sensors; and printed circuit board inspection systems. The company’s Electronic and Mechanical Components Business segment provides relays and switches; connectors; facial image sensing technologies that are used to recognize people’s faces; and sensor/modules, including printer toner sensors and power supply units for amusement devices. Its Automotive Electronic Components Business segment offers transmitter key and engine start systems; power window switches, door locks, and windshield wipers; and electric power steering controllers. The company’s Social Systems Solution and Service Business segment provides automated ticket gates and vending machines, traffic signal controllers, and remote monitoring systems, as well as environmental solutions. Its Healthcare Business segment offers healthcare and medical devices for home use, including sleep sensors, blood pressure monitors, body composition monitors, blood glucose meters, thermometers, and activity monitors; and medical devices for professional use, such as spot check monitors and non-invasive vascular activity monitors screening devices. The company’s Other segment provides PV inverters for solar power generation systems; LCD backlights; and micro electrical mechanical system absolute pressure sensors; and industrial embedded computers and electronic systems, as well as uninterruptible power supply units. The company was formerly known as OMRON Tateisi Electronics Co. and changed its name to OMRON Corporation in January 1990. OMRON Corporation was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan.

OMRON Corporation Releases Machine Automation Controller NX701 and NJ101

OMRON Corporation announced the global release in April of its new products - NX701 and NJ101 - to further expands the lineup of Machine Automation Controllers which are at the heart of Sysmac automation platform. The release of NX701 and NJ101 enables a wide range of solutions from cutting-edge production systems to link to simple machines to be provided. Having the architecture that can quickly incorporate the latest information communication technology (ICT), Sysmac offers an innovative manufacturing environment by creating a variety of application functionalities with software and connecting OMRON and third party factory automation (FA) hardware and design tools such as 3D simulator. The new NX701 is the model that offers speed without compromising on the traditional reliability and robustness, providing the processing speed to the Intel (R) Core (TM) i7 quad-core processor and the large memory capacity. Focusing on the future of sophisticated production sites using IoT, OMRON developed this integrated controller that provides users with scalability beyond the framework of previous controllers such as PLC. The entry model NJ101 with a simple hardware performance enables application functionalities and solutions of Sysmac to be adopted in existing production equipment and general systems. This release of new Machine Automation Controllers and peripheral devices enables Sysmac to be adopted at every production site. Leveraging the benefits of Sysmac, OMRON creates the latest solutions through the Sensing and Control technology, accumulated know-how and knowledge, and collaboration with third parties to keep innovating manufacturing together with manufacturers.

Omron Corp to Launch Small-Size, Light-Weight Solar Power Storage System

Omron Corp. will release a hybrid power storage system that is for solar power generation at detached houses and features a small size, light weight and long life in the spring of 2015. The system consists of a 6.4kWh storage battery and PV inverter with an output of 4.8kW. The PV inverter can be used for both solar power generation and power storage. It stores solar electricity without converting it to alternating-current electricity and charges a battery with a small loss. The weight of the system's lithium-ion battery unit is about 60kg. And the system can handle about 8,000 charge/discharge cycles (more than 10 years of life).
