Riken Corporation manufactures and sells automotive and industrial machinery parts in Japan and internationally. The company offers piston rings; engine parts, such cans hafis, pistons, valve seats, valve lifters, valve spring retainers, tappets, rocker arms, and crankshafts; transmission parts, including seal rings, differential cases, and pinion shafts; drive and chassis parts comprising steering knuckles, damper forks, brake calipers, pressure plates, and lower arms; and other automotive parts consisting of vanes for air compressors and power steering systems, shoes and shoe discs for air conditioning systems, and sliders for power steering systems. It also produces marine and industrial components and parts, such as a range of parts for engines of various types, sizes, and applications, including aircraft, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, and industrial components; large size piston rings for marine engine applications; components for use in construction equipment and agricultural machinery; and compressor parts comprising vanes, housings, and cylinders. In addition, the company provides a portfolio of piping products; thermal engineering products consisting of furnaces, such as hydrogen gas heating furnaces, magnetic field heat treatment furnaces, ceramic continuous sintering furnaces, and ultra-high temperature furnaces, as well as general heat treatment furnaces; and magnetic shields and radio frequency anechoic chambers. Its customers comprise automobile and other vehicle manufacturers; distributors and sales agents for automobile parts; automotive parts manufacturers; marine, medium, and heavy-duty diesel engine and other industrial engine manufacturers; electric manufacturers; distributors and sales agents for marine, medium, and heavy-duty diesel engines and other industrial engine parts; and distributors and sales agents for piping products. The company was founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Riken Corporation Announces Executive Changes Effective April 1, 2015

The Japanese government decided at a cabinet meeting to appoint Hiroshi Matsumoto, former president of Kyoto University, as president of Riken, effective on April 1, 2015. The government accepted the resignation of Ryoji Noyori, current president of the government-affiliated research institute, at the end of this month. Matsumoto served as president of the university until September 2014. He previously took up such posts in the university as vice president, director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere and chief of the Radio Science Center for Space and Atmosphere.

Ryoji Noyori to Resign as President of Riken

Riken President Ryoji Noyori has decided to resign amid continuing criticism of the Japanese government-affiliated research institute following the high-profile STAP cell research scandal. Noyori has already informed the government of his intention to step down. The government has started a process to select his successor. Appointed as Riken chief in 2003, 76-year-old Noyori is currently serving his third term ending in March 2018.
