Bank of China Limited, together with its subsidiaries, provides a range of corporate banking, personal banking, treasury operations, investment banking, insurance, and other services in the People’s Republic of China and internationally. The company’s Corporate Banking segment offers current accounts, deposits, overdrafts, loans, trade-related products and other credit facilities, foreign currency, derivatives, and wealth management products to corporate customers, government authorities, and financial institutions. Its Personal Banking segment provides savings deposits, personal loans, credit and debit cards, payments and settlements, wealth management products, and funds and insurance agency services to retail customers. The company’s Treasury Operations segment is involved in the foreign exchange transactions, customer-based interest rate and foreign exchange derivative transactions, money market transactions, proprietary trading, and asset and liability management. Its Investment Banking segment offers debt and equity underwriting and financial advisory, stock brokerage, investment research and asset management, and private equity investment services, as well as sells and trades securities. The company’s Insurance segment underwrites general and life insurance products; and provides insurance agency services. As of December 31, 2014, Bank of China Limited had a total of 11,514 institutions, which included 10,886 institutions in Chinese mainland; and 628 institutions in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and other countries. The company is also involved in the aircraft leasing business. It operated a fleet of 230 owned aircraft and 20 managed aircraft. Bank of China Limited was founded in 1912 and is headquartered in Beijing, China.

Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Bank of China

The Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bank of China (BOC). The agreement creates a framework for both institutions to work together to enhance interaction and collaboration between the derivatives and financial markets of the UAE and China. The MoU paves the way for greater exchange of market information and industry best practices between the two institutions. The leadership role that both institutions play in their respective regional markets places them in an ideal position to drive greater collaboration between the financial sectors of both countries. Bank of China is the most international bank in China. It offers an extensive range of financial services to customers across the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and 39 other countries.

Sahara Reportedly Eyes Grosvenor House Hotel

Sahara India Pariwar Ltd. is in race to acquire Grosvenor House Hotel, which has been put on sale by Bank of China Limited (SEHK:3988) after a ‘technical default’. Sources stated that Sahara is still negotiating a ’refinancing’ deal to transfer the Bank of China loans to some other lender and has also entered the bidding fray for Grosvenor House through a ‘financier’ backed by some global banks to ensure a better valuation of the property. Other bidders in race include Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Fosun International Limited (SEHK:656), Constellation Hotels Holding Limited and M&G Investment Management Limited. Deloitte and JLL have been mandated to find a buyer.

Bank of China to Open Branch in India

Bank of China is looking to open a branch in India as part of taking advantage of banking growth in India. Bank of China could open its first branch in Mumbai soon. Regulatory clearance has been given for the bank.
