Innodisk Unveils DDR4 Memory for Industrial Applications on Upcoming Skylake Platform

Innodisk Corporation is introducing DDR4 memory modules designed for industrial applications on Intel's upcoming Skylake platform. The new unbuffered long DIMM and compact SO-DIMM memory offerings will feature significantly lower power consumption and higher performance than comparable DDR3 modules and will have ECC error correction available for industrial and embedded applications. An extra thick 30u gold connector, on-board thermal sensors and conformal coatings make these JEDEC-compliant DDR4 modules especially suited for the next generation of industrial systems. Operating at 2,133Mhz, Innodisks's DDR4 memory offers up to 30% better performance with 20% lower power consumption compared to current mainstream DDR3 SDRAM. With Intel Skylake projected to be the embedded platform of choice by the middle of 2015, Innodiskâ s DDR4 memory modules will enable the next generation of embedded performance. Especially suited for fanless computers, on-board thermal sensors alert the system to temperature changes. This allows the monitoring of individual memory module temperatures to throttle performance and prevent overheating. Innodisk's proprietary 30u Golden Finger connector interface is 10 times thicker than the JEDEC standard of 3u and ensures a reliable memory interface in industrial usage.

Innodisk Expands Embedded Peripheral Series with Communication Modules, for IoT and Embedded Applications

Innodisk announced the additions to its Embedded Peripheral line of expansion modules for embedded systems. Both using an mPCIe interface, the EMPL-G201 adds up to 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports and the EMP2-X401 adds either 4 or 8 serial ports independently selectable by software to communicate in either RS232, RS422 or RS485 mode. These modules allow system designers to easily expand Ethernet or serial connectivity of embedded systems for IoT and Industrial applications. Single and Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet: With an mPCIe interface, the EMPL-G201 adds one or two isolated Gigabit Ethernet ports to any embedded system. Besides basic Gigabit Connectivity, more GbE ports allow system for Link aggregation (a.k.a Port Trunking) which can give 2x or 3x Gigabit speeds. Advanced networking features such as load-balancing, failover, or multiple IPs are also made possible by more GbE connectivity. A daughter board with cable offers 2 standard RJ45 Ethernet jacks and accommodates a variety of embedded system form factors. Multi-Port RS232/422/485: Innodisk's EMP2-X401 is a multi-port serial module that supports RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 communication. Offering either 4 or 8 ports, each serial port can be independently configured by software to use any of the 3 serial communication protocols. A flexible cable connects the peripheral module with up to 8 daughter boards each with a DB9 serial port and power output selectable for 5V or 12V. This module also offers 8 sets of GPIO on expansion board for users as an optional purchase. LAN Power Isolation: The EMPL-G201 Ethernet module features a LAN isolation circuit design to protect the system from power transients unexpectly. 15kV ESD Protection: Both the EMPL-G201 and EMP2-X401 feature ESD surge protection on both cards which can handle electrostatic shocks up to 15KV. Ruggedized: The connector interfaces of both the EMPL-G201 and EMP2-X401 feature 30 nanometer 'golden finger'' connectors for a robust connection. Wide operating temperature from -40deg to 85degC is also available as an option.

Innodisk Announces a New Series of High Performance Industrial SSDs

Innodisk announced a new series of high performance industrial SSDs. Available in standard 2.5" SATA III as well as SATA Slim formats, the 3MG2-P series uses a custom new ID201 controller, synchronous NAND flash and 19nm manufacturing process to produce high serquential speeds and random IOPS, while preserving industrial level reliability, power protection, and ruggedness. Industrial no longer means slow. Innodisks' 3MG2-P SSDs use a new generation of flash technology to combine reliable and rugged design with superior performance. The use of select synchronous NAND flash, with a custom ID201 flash controller and on-board DRAM mean the 3MG2-P series achieves 530/460 Sequential Read/Write speeds and 80/76K random IOPS performance. The use of a smaller 19nm process not only helps performance but also allows the 3MG2-P to be offered in a 1TB capacity. The new 3MG2-P SSDs are designed and rigorously tested to ensure industrial-grade reliability. Featuring Evergreen L2 architecture, the life span of the SSD is maximized by an evolved wear leveling algorithm. Tested by JEDEC 218, write amplification has been reduced while strong error correction ensures reliable performance for the life of the SSD. Shock and vibration resistance is built in, and the 3MG2-P SSDs have been rigorously power cycle tested at -40C and 85C to ensure normal operation at a wide temperature range. Better power management than ever is available with the 3MG2-P series. Lower power consumption is achieved with DEVSLP support, meaning longer battery life in the field and lower running costs in the data center. The new SSDs also feature Innodisk iData Guard to protect against unexpected power failures. When the SSD detects power is lost, a special power protection algorithm uses onboard power to save volatile data to non-volatile storage. Not just a product spec, iDataGuard on the 3MG2-P has been rigorously tested under diverse power conditions, including being power cycled on and off while writing data. Even after thousands of power cycles the SSD can function normally. iDataGuard ensures data stored on the 3MG2-P is reliable even when power is not. 3MG2-P SSDs will be offered in capacities from 8GB to 1TB. The 8GB to 256GB versions are currently available while the 1TB model will become available in September 2014, along with a M.2 2280 form factor version. With both industrial grade and standard versions offered, the 3MG2-P series of SSDs from Innodisks gives enterprise users the reliability they've been looking for, and industrial customers the performance to handle more demanding applications.
