The Tire segment provides tires and tire tubes for passenger cars, trucks, buses, construction and mining vehicles, industrial machinery, agricultural machinery, aircraft, and motorcycles. This segment also offers retreading materials and services, automotive maintenance and repair services, tire raw materials, and other tire-related products. The Diversified Products segment manufactures and sells chemical and industrial products, such as vehicle parts; polyurethane foam and related products; electronic precision parts; industrial materials-related products; civil engineering and construction materials and equipment; and other products. This segment also offers sporting goods comprising golf balls, golf clubs, golf wear, tennis goods, and other products; and bicycles, and other bicycle goods and other products, as well as finance and other services. The company was founded in 1931 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Bridgestone Corporation Announces Senior Management Changes

Bridgestone Corporation announced that it had reshuffled the roles and responsibilities of various members of the board and corporate officers. Kazuhisa Nishigai, Bridgestone's current chief operating officer (COO), will now concurrently hold the position of chief technology officer and will be responsible for technology, a role that was previously filled by Narumi Zaitsu. Nishigai is also vice-chairman of Bridgestone International Organizing Committee (BIOC) and a representative board member. Zaitsu will take over responsibility for the company's tyre business in Japan, as well as its Japanese tyre manufacturing. Zaitsu is also a senior vice-president and member of the board. Akira Matsuda, vice-president and officer, will now also serve as director of the Innovation division, a position previously held by Hideki Komatsu. Matsuda will also be responsible for the Tire Advanced Technology Innovation unit, instead of Tire Research and Material Development.

Astra Otoparts and Bridgestone to Form Joint-Venture for Anti-Vibration Rubber Products in Indonesia

Astra Otoparts and Bridgestone signed a joint-venture (JV) agreement on 2 July to manufacture anti-vibration rubber products for automobiles. According to separate statements from the companies on 6 July, the partners will invest about IDR174 billion (USD 13 million) in a plant at Purwakarta, West Java. The factory will begin mass production in January 2016 and will manufacture engine-mounting, body-mounting, and suspension parts. Bridgestone will hold 51% and Astra Otoparts 49% in the JV.

Bridgestone Corp. Reports Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year Ending December 31, 2015

Bridgestone Corp. reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. Net income for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015 declined by less than 1% year on year to JPY 71.5 billion. Operating income remained almost flat at JPY 116.2 billion. Net sales revenues climbed 3.5% year on year to JPY 893.6 billion. For the full-year ending December 31, 2015, the company expects net sales of JPY 3.98 trillion (up 8% year on year) and operating income of JPY 519 billion (up 9% year on year). Net income is anticipated to be JPY 319 billion (up 6% year on year).
